@FHE_Dad Pres Nelson's opening words were, "the Lord has impressed upon my mind the importance of..." using the name He pronounced as the official name. That was as close as you can come to saying "thus saith the Lord" without using those words. That's plenty for me.

I continue to be surprised how many intelligent members of the Lord's Church still believe that anything Pres Nelson said was a departure from what the Church already taught You literally bought the antimormon framing and didn't realize it
Dave Chadwick - Author@DChadwickAuthor

My fellow Latter Day Saints, respectfully, it’s time to let this one go. This is an initiative whose time has passed. I know many people still deeply admire President Nelson and wish to carry on his teachings and wishes. I understand and respect that impulse. But policing people’s language in this matter, both inside the church and out, is not only rude but also intellectually disingenuous. We leaned into the term Mormon since the days of the prophet Joseph Smith. We owned it and took it on ourselves as our identity. We did that, nobody else. We call our belief system Mormonism. This is how language works. Not only that, it makes us distinct from other denominations. This was the whole point of the restoration. Joseph Smith restored the gospel away from the apostasy that had been happening for almost two thousand years. A distinct and defining term for this is appropriate. Nobody believes we worship Mormon. This is absurd. There is no confusion of who members of the church actually worship. We worship Jesus Christ. I have never, not once in my life, been ashamed of being a Mormon. And neither should we. With all due respect to President Nelson, I implore you to heed President Hinckley’s wise words on this matter. But not only his, also President Monson’s: Dare to be a Mormon; Dare to stand alone. Dare to have a purpose firm; Dare to make it known.

@sister_slay They want it taught in primary? There are articles from the Ensign from the 1960s that talked about nearly all of the topics that antis claim were "hidden" or "buried" by the Church.

If you grew up in the church and only found out about polygamy in your adult life, it is your own fault. I will die on this hill.

🚨 NY’s Tax Exodus Just Got Worse NY Gov. Kathy Hochul is stunned by fresh IRS data. Between 2020-2024, 892 companies fled New York — taking $47 BILLION in income with them. • Florida: 341 companies • Texas: 187 • North Carolina: 129 It’s not just billionaires anymore. Middle-class professionals, small business owners, and families are voting with their feet — escaping crushing taxes, regulations, and declining quality of life. Shrinking tax base = those who stay pay even more. Hochul once mocked them: “Just get on a bus.” Now the exodus is accelerating — killing jobs, services, and the economy. Actions have consequences. #NewYorkExodus #TaxFlight

@TeeplesCY 30 years ago, living in Mesa AZ, the same complaint was raised in the local news. 10%+ of pop was LDS, but LDS candidates got elected and LDS issues passed. Why? Because the LDS voted in very high % every election. Similar story right now in Gilbert AZ.

In an area where Latter-day Saints are a small minority, locals are complaining that the high school's student body officers are almost entirely Latter-day Saint. I asked a parent. "The only people willing to volunteer are the Latter-day Saints. That goes for student volunteers and parent volunteers."

@ToddLlewellyn Please, people, don't take out anything on cashiers. If you want to harass someone, take it up to the managerial level. I had children who were cashiers at Walmart and they would get verbally abused by customers all the time. Bad look for any adult!

It was played out on the field last year. BYU lost 34-7. It was nationally-televised. I'm sure you saw it. Your chief motivation is making it easier for your favorite team to get in. I'm sorry, your personal preference isn't in the best interest of the entire sport.
Juan@TheTexasJuan

But when you assume there’s only 12 teams that are “always strong” while always finding a way to exclude others to even get a shot based on “brand” not wanting it played out on the field is the ultimate weak people like Ari here

@rtmccombs Actually, not likely. Why? Because every E-SEC-PN & B1G team will be seeded first -- leaving no extra slots for any other conferences.

@Gibby398gmailc1 @ml1674 @ScottJenningsKY Apparently you didn't read my post carefully. I didn't contradict any of that... except to point out that NO GOVERNMENT produces the goods, commodities, energy, etc. that produced that $4T. Businesses, farms, people, etc. did. Are you denying that?

California has been living under one-party Democratic rule for decades. The state has failed. The education system has failed. There's an affordability crisis. People are fleeing the state. At what point do the voters demand change?!

@ml1674 @ScottJenningsKY It's not CA's government that is a "top economy". Businesses are the ones generating economic revenue. Critical questions: how many, if any, of those businesses are leaving the state? Has there been a change in per-capita business revenue in CA?

California ranks as one of the top economies in the U.S. In 2025, California maintained its position as the world's fourth-largest economy, generating approximately $4.215 trillion in annual output. I guess something is being managed well. Instead of stupid talking points, perhaps someone should ask them how they do it.

@For3JT @ScottyGZone @tlacomb Unfortunately, no matter USU's record or quad position or ranking, the national press will always look down on USU. It's not unlike how they still discount BYU FB & BB as not as deserving as, say, Kansas.

@collinsworth55 @DefensiveLove Love it! Game IQ has been slipping for years in basketball and football. Too many are focused on getting a SC Top 10 play rather than playing smart ball. 30 seconds of fame vs. a season of greatness.

Playing 2 on 2 or 3 on 3 with no dribbles is a great way to build IQ and force players to play a different style! Can add 1 dribble per touch and then 2 dribbles followed by 3 dribbles per touch! Find ways to improve IQ and decision making @DefensiveLove

LDS culture question: After someone has been released from serving as a bishop or in the stake presidency, do you still call them “bishop” or “President?”

@doubleg2525 @RRMMTTCC @Parley_Preaches The point is, it doesn't really matter. If someone calls them "Bishop" or by their first name... it doesn't matter either way. It's not a requirement to call them Bishop, but it's also not wrong either.

@RRMMTTCC @Parley_Preaches Okay? Your point? I don’t think you need to refer to people as their office but rather their name? You are who you are not your priesthood office. According to JS there will be no priesthood offices under patriarchal order of the priesthood

@FiredUpCoug The only thing I would change.... "[Missions] are life-changing sacrifices"........ IF you let them. God won't force anyone to change; you have to choose to be changed. And there are things you learn as a missionary that are difficult to learn any other way.

There wasn’t a dry eye in our chapel this morning. A young man I’ve had the honor of teaching in mission preparation class for the past few months gave his mission farewell talk today. He bore testimony of the Savior’s love. Then, as he began to speak about eternal families, his voice broke and tears filled his eyes. I knew why. A few months ago, his father, whom he dearly loves, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. This young man bravely fought through his tears as he spoke of sleepless nights spent on his knees, pleading with the Lord for understanding. He testified of the peace he felt as the Spirit comforted him. In just a few days, he will leave for two years to teach, serve, and uplift strangers far from home, not knowing whether his dad will be there to greet him when he returns. I could hardly see the words on the page as we sang the closing hymn, “I Know That My Redeemer Lives.” As I sang, I thought of this brave young man pouring out his soul to the Lord, asking Him to take away the bitter cup of his father’s illness. These words took on new meaning: “He lives to comfort me when faint. He lives to hear my soul’s complaint. He lives to silence all my fears. He lives to wipe away my tears.” I’ve read many times on X that missions for LDS youth are vacations, or rewards, or easy rites of passage. They are not. They are life-changing sacrifices. And few will sacrifice more in serving their Savior than this valiant young man, who is choosing faith over fear.
