Doing a deep-dive on holding runners and pickoffs at the high school level. We were blessed having a one-of-a-kind player being the plate for the last four years that made us not really have to think about it much 😂 So, send me all your resources, tags, etc.

Been waiting decades for a school/league proposal to do this here ... Alabama High School Athletic Association will split private and public schools in athletics for championship play beginning next fall. Private schools can still play public schools in the regular season.

@BBGreatMoments #20 is clearly in the runners path without the ball and the runner is not avoiding a tag until the ball is caught, it looks like he establishes his running lane in the "grass" prior to the ball being caught. Should be an obstruction call if anything. Either way, run scores

If teenage athletes want to take a big step forward in development, it's wise to try to “out-sleep” and “out-eat” their peers. These two things are powerful "magnifiers" of everything they do in skill development and strength and conditioning.

“I had a coach Mike Evans and every single player on our team gained velocity…we had to throw on our knees until we got to a point where we couldn’t get it to the target…and then when you stood up you felt like you had an absolute BAZOOKA” 💪 Listen to Eugene talk about time constraints in throwing and how 80% of velocity comes from trunk to arm transfer from the Underground Hot Stove at #ABCA #the108way

@BStulberg This is interesting. In education we are always encouraged to mix groups based on ability so the low performers improve. But these percentages mean the high performers would decrease by a higher rate making mixed groups a not so great idea.

Sit within 25 feet of a high performer, performance improves by 15%. Sit within 25 feet of a low performer, performance declines by 30%. Similar findings for other emotions and behaviors. We are mirrors. The people we surround ourselves with shape us, and we shape them, too.

🚨 Advice from Jackson Holliday - Keep lifting & eating during the season - Fatigue can derail great years - While others fade you get stronger ⭐️ Your goal as a player is to peak at the end of the season - not today.

We are searching for 3 games this upcoming fall in 2024. Our schedule is flexible and we are willing to travel or host out of state opponents. We will play anybody from anywhere!

@amandavande1 @MrZachG I’ve always felt it’s because teaching is viewed as an art instead of a science. Science implies anyone can be taught to teach, art keeps the hero narrative alive. It also conveniently removes accountability since art is open to interpretation, science can be measured

An old one, but a good one. Thinking about equity & opportunity & just re-reading researchgate.net/publication/24… Such a thoughtful take-apart of the literature to that point. What is often promoted in the name of equity can be expected to widen opportunity gaps. This was preventable.

@richard_san75 @latsondheimer 100% based on Calprep rankings, I didn't take into account anything else. Just an idea for grouping the top privates separately from publics. The actual division placements would obviously vary

If I were doing the Southern Section Division 1 playoff pairings, there's a natural break at 10 teams. It would allow for a great D2 competition, too.

There's been a push in the football advisory committee to have a 16-team Division 1 playoff bracket. Really? Competitive equity says no.

Here’s the secret to building relationships: Actually like kids That’s it. No fancy handshakes, no dancing and singing like a fool every morning. That stuff is for show and kids know it. Just like kids. It’s easy. And if you don’t, find something else to do.
