@HotForMoot I was working on some embedded C code and we had a naming convention for pointers to prefix with a "p". I had a pointer to a pointer to a stream so... "ppStream". It's juvenile, but for some reason I couldn't stop laughing once I realized and I just left it in.

@InternetH0F I remember talking to a friend in college when he described the "voice in his head" I remember thinking it was so weird he was expressing thoughts as words all the time. Seemed so inefficient. Turns out it's pretty normal, maybe I'm the weird one.

@SahilBloom Coming from a software engineering background, I gravitated towards a "Scrum Retro" approach. We take out sticky notes and think of things that went well and didn't go well, and usually try and make a Kaizen (goal) for something to try for the next month scrum.org/resources/what…

I first came across the concept of the Life Dinner from entrepreneur Brad Feld. The idea is simple: A fixed monthly date to sit down for a meal with your partner to reflect on personal, professional, and relationship progress, challenges, and goals.

My wife and I recently started a monthly check-in ritual. It’s been incredible for our relationship. The Life Dinner:

@wholemars You might be right for some small percentage of highly innovative people. But mostly the stuff we call new is stuff that AI could create by copying and combining styles. e.g. if I ask ChatGPT to write a poem, is that new? If a human did it would you call it a new poem? Yes.

@AaronMcCollough @GPlanincic @elonmusk @AukeHoekstra @guardian I didn’t see much real-world context. If I drive 5k miles a yr, the front-loaded EV environmental damage is going to take a lot longer to offset than if I drive 25k a yr. Says robotaxis are part of the mission several times, do they even sell one? Marketing docs basically.

"EVs will ruin the climate" is the message of this new @Guardian clickbait piece, focussing on how electric vehicle batteries need lithium, while mining is bad for the planet. I think this crusade is unhelpful and the number for lithium mining presented 1000x too high. 🧵

@Nunzilla72 @GPlanincic @elonmusk @AukeHoekstra @guardian Sure, but OP was asking if Elon put out any studies, Tesla impact report is closest thing to that. Agree it makes sense to consult *trusted* 3rd parties. Problem is lots of orgs have agendas in the other direction, too. Hard to know where to look...

@elonmusk @AukeHoekstra @guardian I would, actually, like to know more about the impact of lithium on the environment in comparison to fossil fuels. If you have some kind of a study, I'd love to read through it.

If electric cars were first to mass market, and someone made an ICE car, we would all be laughing about the unnecessarily complex engine, the constant maintenance required to keep it running, the laughably slow acceleration, and the need to drive somewhere to refuel.

@ScottAdamsSays Easier to argue that global warming is a risk (rather than a certainty), but it is foolish to roll those dice, given that we will eventually run out of fossil fuels and have to generate energy sustainably anyway.
