If socialism is the answer, why are millions immigrating from socialist countries to the US, but few if any Americans are migrating to socialist countries

@LuigiCPA Thanks, I was wondering why Johah Owen Lamb's articles often had a pro crime slant

Jonah, your editorial seems to be influenced by your previous career at the anti-police, SF Public Defender's office. Since when is law enforcement a discretionary cost? If police are "discretionary," what are expenses for nonprofits and Muni?
The San Francisco Standard@sfstandard

The union representing roughly 1,700 police officers has negotiated a 14% raise over four years. Now the rank and file have to vote on it. 📝: Jonah Owen Lamb sfstandard.com/2026/03/18/pol…

You can find this story on youtube (@bariweiss why not on your cbs news app?) and watching Rob Bonta pretend he cares about anyone — or anything — other than himself — priceless. We’re a feast to mega-feast economy in California, but we waste money like it’s always a mega-feast.

I'm done naming streets after people. We're going to keep cancelling them and renaming them at great expense. Myrtle Alley, between Van Ness Ave and Polk Street was renamed TWICE, once for Lech Walesa (who was later cancelled) and then for Alice B Toklas. ebar.com/story/70832

WOKE FRINGE ALERT🚨 Scott Wiener believes genitalia surgeries for kids that result in future infertility is “science” and school teachers can promote and hide this from parents. ☠️ He also wants people to be able to sue conversion therapists who use words instead of scalpels. ☠️
Senator Scott Wiener@Scott_Wiener

MAGA is pushing to overturn youth conversion therapy bans. They even have a case pending before our anti-LGBTQ Supreme Court. We must protect LGBTQ people from this psychological torture. Today, I introduced new legislation (SB 934) to make it easier for victims of conversion therapy to sue for malpractice the people who harm them with this deeply harmful quackery. This includes providing LGBTQ youth who are harmed by conversion therapy far more time to sue. In California, we banned conversion therapy for minors. You cannot “change” someone from gay to straight or from trans to not trans. We’re awaiting the Supreme Court ruling on Colorado’s youth conversion therapy ban, based on a bogus claim that the First Amendment gives people a right to psychologically torture queer kids. We wrote SB 934 with a coalition of LGBTQ civil rights organizations, so that if the Supreme Court strikes down youth conversion therapy bans, LGBTQ youth & our community generally will still have protections. LGBTQ people are living through a terrifying era where an entire political movement — enabled by the President & Supreme Court — is dedicated to erasing us from existence. They’re particularly focused on erasing LGBTQ youth. We won’t let them get away with it. California is fighting back.

The way to know what the Democrats are is to look at what they have done in the places where they have consolidated power. Democrats are the party of spending $114,000 per homeless person as homelessness grows, passing a law requiring you to call former convicts "returning residents," another law that makes it impossible for police to prevent child sex trafficking on the street of LA, and another law indemnifying every doctor chemically castrating effeminate boys and putting teen girls on steroids from any legal consequence. After a decade of this, people have noticed that this is what the party is, and they don't like it. No clever marketing will change this substantive reality. x.com/mattyglesias/s…

The Left is a parasitic Borg that loots the public treasury on behalf of an army of public and NGO employees who exacerbate the problems they purport to address at an ever burgeoning price tag. There is no effective countervailing force anywhere in Blue America.

San Francisco spends $𝟲𝟲.𝟯 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 on 429 employees whose job family is "Community Development." In FY2013, it was 278 people and $24 million. Headcount is up 54%. Cost is up 177%, because average pay grew from $86K to $155K over the same period. 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 Buried in that $66M machine are seven people at the PUC and SFMTA whose job title is "Coordinator of Citizen Involvement." They average $197K in FY2025. Zero overtime. Pure salary and benefits. Total tab: $𝟭.𝟯𝟴 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 to coordinate the involvement of citizens. Mayor Lurie's office alone has 86 Community Development employees. Public input on transit routes and water mains matters. But private firms manage community relations for billion-dollar infrastructure projects with teams of five to ten. SF treats "engagement" as a permanent staffing category instead of a function embedded in project work. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗖𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗖𝘂𝘁 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗖𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 The city's job classification system is designed to be unreadable. "Coordinator of Citizen Involvement" sits alongside "Disability Access Coordinator" (3 people, avg $272K) and "Materials Coordinator" (9 people, avg $208K). Titles this vague can't be evaluated, which means they can't be cut. That's the point. When a bureaucracy invents a title like "Coordinator of Citizen Involvement," it's coordinating one thing: its own growth. How many "community development" positions do you think a city of less than a million people needs?

Yet the City of San Francisco still funds HomeRise and their 18 Supportive Housing facilities. While letting dead bodies deteriorate for days and financial grift continue. But let’s tax residents more…

California has six times as many hospices relative to the elderly population as the rest of the country. They’re all run by migrants who steal your tax dollars and ship them abroad. State auditors have known for years that these companies are filing false reports about patients they never visited and are billing Medicare and state agencies for fraudulent services. California will not shut them down.

It's a good start. Our police need a lot more, especially extensive legislation to repair the damage Scott Wiener has done to the ability of the police to function effectively. We need to reallocate millions from the homelessness industrial complex to our law enforcement and empower them to be heroes.
San Francisco POA@SanFranciscoPOA

A new tentative agreement between the SFPOA and the City includes a 14% raise over four years and additional incentives aimed at keeping experienced officers on the force. The agreement sends a clear message that San Francisco values its officers and it better positions them to improve public safety. cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco/n…

I’ve shared what officers are seeing firsthand, the real impact of Scott Wiener’s SB357. But some would rather cling to a developer-driven narrative than confront the consequences. When ideology outweighs public safety, it’s the most vulnerable who pay the price. Vote accordingly
Bill Wells@MayorBillWells

The state of California told us to stand down. "Don't get involved." Let me be clear about what "don't get involved" means in practice. It means a child is being sex trafficked and our officers are told to look the other way because of ideology. That is antithetical to everything I believe. And every cop I know feels the same way. We will never sit on our hands while kids are being trafficked.
