A statement from Cursor Kinda funny to see people melt down that an open source model was used as base, but everyone was super supportive of these same open source models distilling from Opus. 🤔🤔🤔

@leerob If you use OSS models, just give more credit to it upfront OSS models deserve more visibility It would indeed remove Cursor some merit but it will be for the greater good of the OSS AI

Yep, Composer 2 started from an open-source base! We will do full pretraining in the future. Only ~1/4 of the compute spent on the final model came from the base, the rest is from our training. This is why evals are very different. And yes, we are following the license through our inference partner terms.

Personally, I really like Composer 1.5 in Cursor — it’s affordable, fast, and functional. I’ll definitely give Composer 2 a try. However, I was a bit surprised to hear that Composer 2 might be built on K2.5. Is that true?

@IndraVahan There is no issue. It’s ethical, they did not follow the licensing requirement. Last time they RL’d GLM and no one said anything because GLM licence did not have that clause.

Composer 2 is out! Cursor is an example of a new type of company, not a pure app maker and not a model provider. Our aim is to build the most useful coding agents by combining the best API models and our domain-specific models.

@gum1h0x No they don't have the talent or resources, it's very hard to train a frontier level coding model even xAI struggles to do it with big datacenters

cursor has the talent to train their own model, which makes it even weirder that they feel the need to hide kimi k2.5 as the base. there's no shame in building on top of a strong foundation pretending it's fully yours when it isn't gives off way worse vibes than just being upfront about it and taking finer grained steps first. like just do it like PI with glm. now i'm curious what's behind composer 1.5

@Pirat_Nation Sony is fundamentally misunderstanding the PC audience if they think PlayStation games are enough to make the mass audience install another PC launcher. That strategy doesn't work on PC. I didn't work for EPIC when they made titles exclusive, and even gave out free games.

@thdxr Yes I think Kimi kept it too quiet and one of its employees spoke directly without asking upper management because they don't have west companies' PR training I don't think Cursor would try to scam Kimi

it's possible cursor didn't want anyone to know the base model so they did pay kimi for that and kept it quiet so that even kimi employees didn't know kinda backfired though

whether this is true or not it's going to cause every company producing open source models to re-evaluate if they should continue to do so that is incredibly frustrating

@thdxr @potrepka I think Cursor don't want to slap "Kimi K2.5 on it" so they should just pay Kimi instead It's obvious it was gonna be an open-source RLHF but they should be more transparent about it

T3 Code now supports Claude. If you have the Claude Code CLI installed and signed in, you can use it with T3 Code. Hopefully the lawyers won't make us remove this 🙃

MMO players, quick question. If there was a game that had: • World of Warcraft style MMO world • New World style gathering and large siege battles • Path of Exile style monetization (free base game + cosmetic shop) Would you try it? Because that game already exists.. It’s Guild Wars 2! Free to play. No subscription. And it’s on Steam. It also does something most MMOs don't. It respects your time. You can quit for 5 years, come back, and your gear is still usable. You literally can pick up where you left off. AND ITS FREE TO PLAY 🤯 No expansion gear treadmill. The world itself is huge, dare i say MASSIVE too. Mountains, caves, hidden jumping puzzles, deep/vast explorable underwater zones and cities. Instead of quest hubs, the maps run events where dozens of players suddenly end up defending towns or fighting massive bosses together. Pvp has matchmaking as well as "world vs world", which is basically a huge battlefield warfare with siege weapons and armies fighting over castles. Also.. the mount system might be the best in any MMO. Each mount has unique movement mechanics, not just speed boosts. And the community is known for being one of the friendliest in the genre. I could go on and on. I keep getting asked in stream about this game and I always have to stop and share my passion and love for everything this game has to offer. If you like MMORPGs and somehow missed this one, I highly recommend checking it out. GW2 players, help spread the word! #GuildWars2 @GuildWars2 @ArenaNet

Ca c'est une super nouvelle. Personne n'aime Berlin. En + les orgs auront le choix de faire évoluer leurs joueurs dans des endroits beaucoup moins cher et avec beaucoup moins de contrainte. On va avoir une LEC qui sera beaucoup plus présente en Europe en France et en Espagne. Beaucoup + centralisé. J'aime beaucoup
