No one ever said we “lost the technology” to go back to the Moon.
That’s not what Don Pettit said in a 2016 interview.
What he actually said was:
“I’d go to the Moon in a nanosecond. The problem is we don’t have the technology to do that anymore. We used to, but we destroyed that technology and it’s a painful process to build it back again.”
And the honest response to that is:
So what?
He said this decades after the Apollo program - after we had already gone to the Moon six times and landed twelve men on the surface.
His comment has absolutely no bearing on whether those missions happened.
What he meant is straightforward:
The factories were shut down.
The tooling and molds were scrapped.
The materials became obsolete.
The engineers and technicians moved on.
The contractors moved on.
We didn’t lose the physics.
We didn’t forget how rockets work.
We lost the industrial ecosystem that made something like the Saturn V possible at that moment in time.
You can’t just snap your fingers and build another one.
That’s all he meant.
By 2016, we had:
• gone to the Moon 6 times
• landed 12 humans on its surface
• built and operated over 10 space stations
• maintained a permanently inhabited laboratory in orbit for over 15 years - the International Space Station (later joined by China’s crewed station, Tiangong space station)
…and that’s when he said it’s a painful process to build it back again.
So again:
That quote clearly doesn’t mean what they pretend it means. Gotta Lie To Deny

@ActionHugo @alexboge Apollo took 6 test flights to the moon before 11. This is literally he second test of these brand new launch and life-support systems. You'd rather than just show up with an untested system and kill four astronauts?

With almost no fanfare, Artemis II has already passed straight through what moon landing deniers love to call the “deadly, impenetrable” Van Allen radiation belts.
Except… they aren’t.
They’re regions of trapped charged particles - mapped, measured, and understood for decades. Even Dr. James Van Allen himself noted that with proper trajectory and shielding, passing through them is not a problem.
Mission planners minimize exposure by carefully selecting the flight path and limiting time in the most intense regions. Spacecraft are shielded. Radiation dose is tracked and kept within safe limits.
This isn’t a mystery to us, it’s just physics and engineering.
We’ve done it before.
We just did it again.

@LucasGageX ISS isn’t in space you moron. It’s still in our atmosphere. 🤦♂️

@boxofduststudio @draymondsburnor @alexboge Here’s another conspiracy for you my dear.

So if Katy Perry & Lauren Sanchez can live stream from ‘Space’ - why aren’t we seeing the astronauts aboard Artemis II?
English

@ActionHugo @draymondsburnor @alexboge Honey, both in the same mission. Either watch the whole interview or don't. It's like you can't think independent of the internet conspiracy bubble 🙄

@ManaByte Must suck just posting about his all day. You’re a clown man. Definitely cool at parties!! 😝

“Flat Earther” is just another way to say “Fucking Idiot”
Kurt Cobain@cobainkurt35
@ManaByte Flat earthers don’t even describe the model you’re talking about. If you’re going to criticize something, at least understand what it actually says first. Otherwise, all you’re doing is proving you’re an idiot. Just like you are right now.

@boxofduststudio @draymondsburnor @alexboge 😝 just a little humor for you. Just remember the little buggy they had on the moon. 😝 definitely wasn’t a kids motorized buggy. You don’t believe everything on the internet?
English

@ActionHugo @draymondsburnor @alexboge You should read up on the history of rocketry. It's fascinating.

@skyart66 @ActionHugo @alexboge SpaceX isnt our money, but NASA is. Unless of course the guy you replied to isnt American?

@ColonyScotland @JonStewartIL The backpacks were not only for air supply, they could also process the expelled Co2, were an integrated air conditioning system able to also process body moisture, if that's not enough were also a pressurization system able to maintain livable pressure inside the suits. Amazing!

@Orlando71156528 Good try. You guys are getting so many gullible people.
English

@Matt_Pinner Of course with all the technology necessary and knowing everything about space in the 60s. Am I right? 🤦♂️

@AntiTrumpCanada That’s funny, wasn’t it high before this? You reap what you sow you cunts!!
