Scrolling insta and I saw this video by a French girl, and it reminds of a frequent complaint of expats in Australia: it’s actually really hard to make local Australian friends there You see this complaint all over expat forums, even white Brits talk about it, so it’s not even primarily a racial or religious thing In my opinion it’s because Australia is a culture which ranks very high in the “cliquey-ness” extremity. Australia often catches people off guard, because they can’t comprehend how people can be so friendly and outgoing, but also very closed socially, and it’s because they confuse the qualities of extroversion and warmth with actual social-group openness There is a graph I made around this theory (based on the 4 square political compass chart) that I use to roughly plot the primary social dynamic of cities, and I think it can be helpful in selecting a city that best suits your situation and social style. Will do another post about it

@medieval_bops Passively handwaving away your choice to 'brainwashing' denies your own intelligence and agency. You made decision not to have kids, everyday. I've made momentous life choices I regret, with hindsight, too. Normal. Part of deal of only getting one go at life. C'est la vie.

Dave is right - USVC yet another grift in the world of retail-accessible VC. I went through the 56-page prospectus and its even worse than the tweet suggests: 1. Fee stack: 3.61% gross annual expense ratio, capped net at 2.50%. Underlying SPVs/VC funds charge another 1–2.5% mgmt + 20–30% carry on top. You're paying 3+ layers of fees before any return hits your account. 2. The prospectus states twice, verbatim: "The Investment Adviser has no previous experience managing a closed-end, registered investment company." The adviser was formed Dec 2023 and rebranded from "Strawberry Tree Management" to "AngelList Asset Management" last November. 3. Portfolio manager Ankur Nagpal is compensated on AUM growth, not performance. Straight from the prospectus: his Carry acquisition earnout "includes contingent payments tied to USVC's growth in assets under management." Textbook non-traded REIT incentive structure. 4. AngelList gets paid three times on the same dollar: • 1% advisory fee to AngelList Asset Management • Up to 5% of profits to Platform Advisor LLC (AngelList affiliate) • Fund admin fees to Belltower Fund Group (AngelList affiliate) 5. NAV is sponsor-marked - the adviser is its own "valuation designee." Prospectus disclaimer: "Fair value prices are necessarily subjective in nature…no assurance that such a price will be at or close to the price at which the security is next quoted or next trades." 6. "5% quarterly redemptions" is marketing. Reality: Board can cancel any offer, can offer less than 5%, can repurchase at a discount to NAV, and oversubscribed offers prorate. Straight from the doc: "Shareholders should not rely on being able to tender the full amount—or any—of their Shares." 7. Naval frames it as "VC for everyone." The prospectus describes a non-traded CEF with sponsor-marked NAV, AUM-linked manager comp, three layers of affiliate fees, and gated discretionary liquidity. Retail doesn't need access to private markets this badly.
Dave Nadig@DaveNadig

@naval Pretty much the worst possible structure for a legally issued security in the U.S. Market: the non-traded Closed End Fund. Congratulations, you found the grift pile sitting right next to non-traded REITs and BDCs. Enjoy the 3% sales load!

@redemptionjizzy @Crypton_on_x This is BS. ETH is the OG scam chain..tech developed there, and migrated. Sniping, bundling, bribing, MEV, mempool manipulation, poisoned CAs, blacklist CAs, PnD, KOL cabals, and everything else all started on ETH. The OG extraction chain simply because it had the liquidity.

SOL's biggest advantage over ETH is also its biggest downfall for onchain trading Faster txs, lower fees, tool sophistication ultimately led to little streamer niglets deathfarming every possible coin. Ethereum being the slower, more expensive chain attracts real holders

@mezooterxbt Making $ on SOL is a grind. It should be, but making $ on ETH was harder. Ask yourself, why did everyone leave ETH in the first place? B/C it was Scam/Exploit Central with 20 ways to get killed, on every token. Shillors only shilling ETH, to extract. x.com/AdamFx/status/…
AdamFx@AdamFx

@ramonos This coordinated ETH shilling / SOL bashing campaign is shameless. As if CT has not seen yrs of KOL cabal shill Base AVAX BSC etc - as the next holy grail (reality, a paid campaign + fresh insider extraction platform). ETH is OG platform for scams and insidertech. Tooled up?

I might be the biggest fudder on solana, however I am the biggest fudder of ethereum. A lot of you trading on $eth will buy honeypots, get hurt in exploits and graped on high fees. Also everything is a bundled scam. $ASTEROID on eth is no different and the solana bad actors are doing the same thing they do on solana, on eth. Don’t fall for their tricks, same game different chain.
Mezooter 🇺🇸@mezooterxbt

Just know the people who made money on $ASTEROID, don’t care about the young girl who died. They are only happy their bags went up and that’s it. Sickening what this space has turned into.

@thejester Some good traders are about find out about MEV, blacklisted sells, CA code to extract liquidity on 'locked' tokens, buy taxes, sell taxes, gas cost, failed trxs bribe costs, ETH bundles all to lose to Pump and Dumpers dumping from 5M-50k, instead of 100k-20k

a lot of niggas who made 5figs liquid total are about to go bridge to eth thinking it's the same guardrail game they've been playing on sol only to get their shit goatse'd you don't know what a real rug is little buddy wait til you pay $30 in gas to buy a token, you're up 20x, and the LP gets pulled or they freeze the contract these newgens are about to learn some harsh lessons about why we switched to solana in the first place and why @Pumpfun is a multibillion dollar product
ReBorn@JessDickensS

@MidCurveMortal I swear Solana traders are the most retarded fucks. Gonna bridge to buy at $150 mil and then sell when it dips a little. I'm out on sol for good. I'm too good a trader to be here any more.

@bassel_amin This was the 'normal'. Ppl forget. ETH was awesome, just like SOL but just as big a % of scams as on SOL (or BASE, BSC, etc) except ETH also has 20 more ways to get rinsed on every launch. ETH for insiders w bundle/bribe tech and liquidity, to extract. x.com/AdamFx/status/…
AdamFx@AdamFx

@SpoiledBySpoily Ppl forget ETH sniper wars The 'hot token' ppl 50k gas for 1st trx making 400k in seconds vs the guy paying 40k gas get 2nd trx losing -150k. The gas $, bribe cost, the 30% Buy/Sell taxes, the rugs/ scams/ blacklists. You had to be Keanu from the Matrix (or insider) to make $.

Reasons why trading a memecoin on Solana is way better than on ETH : 1. Jaredfromthesubway.eth. 2. 50-150$ gas and sometimes Tx fail. 3. Transactions slow in comparison with Sol. 4. You might get 150 million Mcap runner, but you wont ever get a 2.5k Mcap entry. 5. Contracts on Pumpfun, Bags or Bonk ( generally on platforms that automate smart contracts) are way safer and easier to trade. You never had to use TokenSniffer or whatever it is to scan CAs like we did on ETH, and even those scans would fail to protect and you end up being honeypotted. 6. Jaredfromthesubway.ETH

let’s stop glamorizing ETH the shitty chain that costs 20 bucks to buy/sell a coin on the bundles on ETH are no different than the SOL ones this is not specific to any coin btw. at least on solana you have an opportunity to buy things lower with less capital

@cryptolyxe This is dumb. Back in the day when ETH was hot, 99% ETH launches were scams rugs, Pump and Dumps, cept you also had bribes and bundles, and all manner of BS extraction, PvP and Pv Normies. Rose coloured glasses. Its not ETH vs SOL. Its human greed - the chain is irrelevant.

@100xgemfinder Presale meta also led to daily crime as presalers KOLs were criminals and just ran off with funds, costing the gullible millions. @zachxbt had a running spreadsheet, listing presale scams and funds stolen, adding daily. It was long list.

Presale meta on eth lead to massive runners in 2020-2021. Presale meta on SOL was what lead to $Bome (billion dollars in a day) and $Slerf ($550M+ in less than a day) after that period of time the trenches went into overdrive. $Nub was born, and so many other bangers like $Michi. It seems like the cycle will repeat itself once again. Don’t start sending money to random presales unless it’s someone who’s very trusted. The first few will run pretty hard but then everyone copies each other and they start to lose money on them and get flamed out. Proud to be one of the only people who more than 30x’ed when I ran a presale back in the day. But no I’m never doing one again

Someone is selling a French manor estate near Figeac with a secret library hidden behind the stairs, a private chapel, and a well connected to an underground stream running beneath the property. The main manor is about 300m² (3,230 sq ft), with 4 bedrooms, two salons, a dining room and a 150m² attic with 9 meter ceilings. There's also a separate gîte, a second smaller cottage, and a full events barn with chandeliers, parquet floors and a professional kitchen. 6,975 sq ft of living space across all buildings, set within 5.8 hectares (14.3 acres) of meadows, woodland and a stream. The estate already operates as a gîte and wedding venue. Asking price: €1.15M ($1.34M). There is nothing really missing here, is there?
