I didn't assume anything about her. I only said we don't have the context to make a moral judgement. I didn't say she wasn't innocent. I only said in my initial post that we don't know.
Now I believe she was innocent and I hope the gang member that shot her faces justice.

We know govt is completely unaccountable and can't even be taken to court unless they beat you within an inch of your life. And even then they will only pay you with money taken from your neighbors. Go get a budget from your municipality (they're free)..every dime coming in and going out is accounted for...go to your local budget planning meeting (open to the public in the fall)..
Understand the process..ask questions

@AdamGrey__ @umpire021 @TheGreenOldDill We pay for our own street lights and maintain our sidewalk and street area. We have our own security, fences, security alarms, smoke alarms, etc. The insurance company doesn't secure us AND we pay property taxes. If you call an ambulance there is a bill.

Another vote for consumption taxes.
E.g. don't tax the first home, but tax the second. Granular sales taxes on things like cars and boats. Exemptions for basics like fresh food.
Florida has all sorts of tourist taxes which work well. In the town I live in, there's room to raise new forms of revenue in lieu of homesteaded property tax exemptions.

We pay for every important thing without collecting taxes, but putting down some asphalt with a street lamp is just too much for the modern man to comprehend without a government department... LOL

You homeschool your kids or pay for your own daycare. You maintain the stretch of street in front of your own property.

@SandyofCthulhu Property taxes are a scam because 1) you don't even use half the services and 2) you could easily pay for the strip of road the width of your house in a city--The cost is minuscule. It's in your insurer's interest to prevent your house from burning down, life or property taken...

But why is it on your house? Why not tax your washing machine. Or your carpet? Or the black velvet paintings handing on your walls? It's completely arbitrary, and seems unfair, particularly because we are ALREADY HEAVILY TAXED for those damn public services.
