My 67 year old Aunt does not have children in the public schools, does not drive, paid for an ambulance to take her to the hospital last year and when she (and I) called 911 about an open fire on the streets they told her, "Oh, that's just a warming fire." and closed the call. This is her Property Tax bill for a 3 bedroom 2 bath home. She gets $1,200/ month in social security. She doesn't even get enough to pay her property taxes. COL increase for SS might be the same as the increase in property taxes. 2% Do the math. 2 % of her $1,200 for social security next year. $24 2% of $19,000 for increased property taxes. $380 @VP @nickshirleyy

@RapidRaccoon @AdamGrey__ @TheGreenOldDill I get it...every municipality is different... Go get a budget from your municipality (they're free)..every dime coming in and going out is accounted for...go to your local budget planning meeting (open to the public in the fall).. Understand the process..ask questions

@AdamGrey__ @umpire021 @TheGreenOldDill We pay for our own street lights and maintain our sidewalk and street area. We have our own security, fences, security alarms, smoke alarms, etc. The insurance company doesn't secure us AND we pay property taxes. If you call an ambulance there is a bill.

@AdamGrey__ @RapidRaccoon @TheGreenOldDill The only thing Insurance companies are worried about is making sure your premiums are paid...evidently you have no clue whats goes into a municipalities budget..educate yourself before making dumb comments

@umpire021 @RapidRaccoon @TheGreenOldDill You pay for the stretch of street in front of your house. The cost is minimal. You pay for your own daycare/school if you have kids. The insurance company makes sure your house doesn't burn down or that your property is not stolen and that your life is not taken.

Remember when Obama required Americans to buy one of his “affordable” healthcare plans - and if we didn’t, we were fined and had our wages garnished for not having insurance? But Trump is a king?

@RapidRaccoon @TheGreenOldDill So, if you live in a small rural town of 1500 people with minimal business...who pays for Fire protection, EMS, Schools, street lights, library, public works including parks. Streets, equipment, payroll, solicitor, maintenance...local.sales tax not covering all that

@TheGreenOldDill If property taxes are to pay for public services, why doesn't each person pay the same? Just add a local sales tax or something that makes more sense.

@GuyYooper @B3nL1pman @TheGreenOldDill Volunteer FD's dont get squat unless they beg for donations or hold consistent fundraisers...Yes, EMS services are billed but only get a fraction of what money in return

@B3nL1pman @TheGreenOldDill You realize states use federal grants, state taxes, local taxes. Tax on gasoline here is supposed to go toward roads and infrastructure. Fire dept are typically voluntary and get plenty of $. Ems services are billed to the patient. Every dollar you make, and spend is taxed.

One of the challenges I have playing in youth Baseball local tournaments throughout the years is umpires doing more than three or more games in a day. To be clear, it did not affect the outcome of what we did this weekend but there’s no way they can do six games each day, even if they’re good. It happens everywhere.

@wrecklessdrive1 @indexnforgetit @themoviedadsc This is my main point. Stuck in the dark is very unsafe for the family so I would carry gun. Also bad drivers and tired drivers put there on same road. Bathroom breaks at sketchy gas stations isn't nice. Also what a great way to start vacation, tired and grumpy.

Legitimately now considering driving 14.5 hours to Ft. Lauderdale this coming weekend vs. flying. Drive is brutal, but my worst nightmare is getting caught in this TSA mess flying with 3 young kids Question to those who've been flying. Is it really that bad right now?

@themoviedadsc Basically, what is your time worth.. Cost of 5 plane tickets...waiting for TSA, layovers, missed connections, over booked flights, weather delays ...OR $200 in fuel and Travel at your own pace...
