You might believe you should spend less time thinking about code because of AI. I strongly disagree! We’re watching this play out live where tons of AI generated code becomes a liability. At the end of the day, an engineer needs to be responsible / on call for code that gets shipped to production. If you don’t understand the system you’re trying to debug, you’re probably going to have a bad time. Yes, AI can help with all of this, if you set up the proper systems. You can have agents triage prod logs, look at errors, etc. You can speed up parts of the investigation, but an engineer needs to make the call. There might be serious customer or financial implications from that change. I expect the trend continue for trimming dependencies, vendoring code so you can modify it directly, preferring simpler systems with fewer abstractions, and spending waaaay more time thinking about system design and code maintenance. I’ve said this before, but it’s a great time to get familiar with CS fundamentals and some of the history behind what great software looks like. Many parts will be different in the coming years as AI progresses, but also a lot more than people realize will stay the same.

utter nonsense. accounting and legal will NOT be fully automated in 18 months. willing to put $100k against Suleyman on this.

AI will create more jobs instead of more unemployment. With AI, now we can develop stuff which we couldn't before because of time constraints. This creates an "understanding debt". We need more people to understand that codebase and manage it responsibly.

@KaiXCreator Too many layoffs are happened just because of uncontrolled hiring process in COVID period. Now layoffs are happening because of that wrong call. AI is only the scapegoat

@AdnanTheDev @Amank1412 Haha, you are right. Don't forget about boot-lickers, who constantly fawn upon their upper management to curry their favour. There are also those arrogant upper management afraid of good quality people replacing their status, so they lay them off.

@not_picchi @Amank1412 ass lickers are the worst thing that can happen to any company. Whenever, I think about somebody how he still manages to work in this company, answer is mostly professional ass licking service.

@AdnanTheDev @Amank1412 Another case, my 2nd last job: just layoff those who are not ass lickers. Can’t make them work whenever and however you want. Trust me, this ones are the worst. They let got 3 leads at once and kept all the junior devs who can lick their asses!
