Cut & Commissions in Indian Healthcare once again!! Old problem in newer avatars4 ; oldest open secret of Indian healthcare. Why shud we bother ? Immoral, unethical?? Inevitable fall out of a severely monetised competitive unregulated health system Non transparent, corrupt? ; patients don’t know that money is exchanging hands for their treatment; cud be unprofessional, unfair trade practice & corruption Does it affect safety & quality of healthcare? Of course & what shud concern us most ; unnecessary referrals, referrals to wrong drs, unnecessary treatment & pushes up cost of care. Will anyone act? Very unlikely ; profession is part of the problem, regulators r unwilling or have no teeth, patients & citizens busy struggling to get decent rational affordable care Healthcare is booming ; don’t spoil the party till it affects one of us @RemaNagarajan

Kannimarra Teak tree.. at 700+ yrs old it is the oldest Teak in the world.. this tree was awarded The “Mahavriksha Puraskar” in 1994-95. Interestingly there were 3 such massive Trees.. 2 were cut down by the Brits.. the local villagers stopped them from cutting this one.. Located within the #ParambikulamTigerReserve.. this tree is accessible through a jungle safari. Captive breeding for release in the wild has justification. But zoos created for entertainment have virtually no value. Taking children to zoos to create future conservationists, is like taking young kids to prisons to create law-abiding future citizens. @SanctuaryAsia
