Change your mind, change your life I had a great conversation with @SahilBloom about the most powerful paradoxes of life. Here were my favorites: Advice Paradox: Most advice sucks and taking more advice can leave you less well-prepared. Winners develop filters and selectively implement advice. Opportunity Paradox: Success doesn’t come from taking on everything. It comes from deep focus on things that really matter. Say yes to what matters and no to what doesn’t. Talking Paradox: If you want your words and ideas to be heard, start by talking less and listening more. “We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.” — Epictetus Productivity Paradox: When you establish fixed hours to your work, you find unproductive ways to fill it. To do truly great, creative work, you have to be a lion. Sprint when inspired. Rest. Repeat. Speed Paradox: Move slow to move fast. Slowing down gives you the time to be deliberate with your actions. You can then focus, gather energy, and deploy your resources more efficiently to drive highest impact. Social Media Paradox: We have more connectedness, but we feel less connected to those around us. Schedule time to disconnect. Put down the phone. Look someone in the eye. Have a conversation. Breathe. News Paradox: The more news you consume, the less well-informed you are. Want to know more about the world? Turn off the news. Death Paradox: Know your death so you can live your life. Time if finite. Don’t die with regret. Which one is your favorite?
