@_kst @ERICSORENSEN This is common sense. The dark pigment absorbs the sun’s radiant heat, passing it directly into the water through conduction. This is why houses are whitewashed in hot, sunny climates. Dark surfaces absorb heat. White reflects through the clear water and back to the atmosphere.

@RealJCuba @elerianm Most electronics you typically travel with like your laptop and phone charger are dual voltage and will be fine. It’s mainly just small appliances that are incompatible, especially hair dryers and curling irons. Digital electronics are almost always fine, per the adapter label.

It’s 2026. Why is the "travel adapter hunt" still a thing? Dear Hotels: please find below the ultimate guest perk. If you’re renovating, please ditch the single-region outlets and go universal. It’s a small detail that makes a massive difference for your international guests.

@DrEliDavid @ElliotKaufman6 Well… for starters, we all know the president doesn’t read. And secondly, the president understands that anyone with a brain knows he’s a sucker.

Totally unfair attack on WSJ's @ElliotKaufman6. Read the full article and judge for yourself. Not a single inaccurate sentence: wsj.com/opinion/the-ir… Kaufman doesn't say that Trump is a sucker (of course he's not), but that the regime in Iran is behaving as if they think so.

@atrupar "We didn't think they'd get hit." And yet we moved our troops out of the region and vacated our bases beforehand, anticipating that specific eventuality. The MAGA base are truly credulous fools.

KERNEN: Is there some type of currency swap possible with UAE to help if they need it? And do you think there'd be backlash? TRUMP: It is. It's been a good country, a good ally of ours. It was shocking because we didn't think they'd get hit. I'm surprised, because they are really rich.

@d_m_k_2000 @rick_alpert @XochitlHinojosa Wrong. In Philadelphia Newspapers, Inc. v. Hepps, the Supreme Court established that in defamation lawsuits involving matters of public concern, the plaintiff bears the burden of proving that the defamatory statements are false.

@AgnolettiArrab @rick_alpert @XochitlHinojosa Not exactly. Plaintiff cannot prove a negative. Because Plaintiff is a public figure they only need to prove actual malice. Defense has to prove their statements are materially factual.

@rick_alpert @XochitlHinojosa In a defamation suit, it’s the plaintiff who has the burden of proof. And shield laws exist to prevent forced disclosure of confidential sources. DC also has one of the strongest Anti-SLAPP laws in the country.

@XochitlHinojosa Respectfully, you really don't know anything. Director Patel doesn't have to "defend" anything. The author has to prove she had in hand evidence at the time of her declarations. She cannot "protect" confidential (unnamed sources). Discovery swings both ways. Damages are presumed.

IMO being in favor of this is like being in favor of defunding the police or not enforcing the border. Why wouldn’t we enforce rules? If they said we’re going to be using AI to audit and need fewer folks that would be great, but that isn’t what they are saying. “The IRS workforce reductions so far would cut an estimated $46 billion in federal spending over the next decade and reduce revenue collections by $643 billion.”
The Wall Street Journal@WSJ

The Trump administration is scaling back tax enforcement, leaving fewer federal employees to audit returns, collect unpaid tax debts and deter Americans from skirting the law. Read more: 🔗 on.wsj.com/4dKXmL5

@UltraEgyptian @SpencerHakimian Not true. I have NEVER engaged with any white supremacy content. It's pushed heavily on my "For you" tab--something that didn't exist before Elon. And because the "For you" tab appears by default when you open X, I constantly have to switch over to the "Following" tab.

@BlaketheTomCat @messedupfoods The opposite is true for the word orange. The word "orange" describing the fruit came first, appearing in English in the 1300s, while the color wasn't named after it until the 1500s. Before the name of the fruit, the color was "yellow-red" (geoluread in Old English).

@RonLatham83 @Jason @JoeSquawk You mindlessly parrot the Party's doublespeak like we haven't heard this story before: "He accepted everything. The past was alterable. The past never had been altered. Oceania was at war with Eastasia. Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia."

@Jason @JoeSquawk War in the Middle East started 47 years ago when Iran violated our embassy and took US Diplomatic personnel hostage. President Trump is merely, and at long last, finishing it. Be honest. And I’m anxious to see whether you endorse Kamala or Gruesome for President.

@MikeMikewelch3 @AliceFromQueens Do you know how to read a chart? The majority of that M2 expansion (the near vertical part of the curve) occurred in 2020, under Trump. Inflation is a lagging indicator, and most of that money was printed and authorized COVID stimulus under Trump.

@ShibaCoffeeTea @JoshEakle Give it time. There were a lot of price buffers in place over the past month, like oil in transit, pre-existing inventory and then a massive 400 million barrel coordinated release from global strategic reserves. It might hit $8 everywhere, but there’s much more runway from here.

@dutch_import @JoshEakle You can drill your own oil, but as long as you have no export controls and your producers are free to sell their oil anywhere to the highest bidder, you will pay the market price. You’re not “independent” from the laws of economics. Prepare for a political bloodbath in November.

@patriots76 @mattyglesias The Trump pay-to-play model ultimately boils down to crony capitalism. Corruption is corrosive to free markets—it’s an unpredictable tax, a competition killer, and a protection racket that erodes the stability and rule of law that business actually runs on.
