The new grad market feels cooked from what I’ve seen. So I took some time off this weekend to write down things I observed ~two years of applying to different roles. There’s a ton of blogs around how to clear interviews but there aren’t too many on how you could increase the number of interviews you get, so I wrote this for that. TLDR: Yes applications are a numbers game, but cold applications do not work as efficiently anymore anymore plainly because the number of applications for each role have shot up over the last few years. (*It works for some but not all) I discovered different reasons from my own experiences around why they didn’t work, and I came up with different strategies based on what I observed that was happening to my friends and came up with ways to improve the number of callbacks I received. Essentially, different strategies might work for different people and its upto you to figure out what has best worked for you by trying them all out. This blog talks about: - How to deal with resume - How to think about more than cold applications - An intuition for cold DMs - And a few other approaches that I’ve observed which worked for people But also in general: - Please setup Simplify before your first application - Linkedin Premium/X Premium ftw (we hate it but no other option 🤒 ) I hope this comes of any help to anyone in this boat right now, and I hope this gets everyone reading this closer to your dream job! <3
