On the 18th of November, AICRI briefed the Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement, highlighting how cross-border collaboration is strengthening the future of cancer research and care across the island of Ireland. AICRI Co-lead Prof. William Gallagher delivered the opening statement, alongside Prof. Owen Patrick Smith, Prof. @gerryhanna , patient advocate @SiobhanGaynor  and Ciaran Briscoe. The group who demonstrated that all-island collaboration in precision oncology, childhood cancer genomics, survivorship, clinical trials and digital health is already having impact, yet the message was clear: there is still much to be done!

📍 Policy Dialogue on Inequity in Cancer Care 🗓️ Today | @MoLI_Museum , Dublin @AlCRIproject is honoured to join partners from NCCP (@HSELive ) ECHoS (cancermissionhubs.eu) , the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies (@OBShealth) , and UCD Institute for Discovery (@ucddublin) for a vital discussion on one of the deepest inequities in healthcare — the mortality gap affecting people living with severe mental health conditions who are diagnosed with cancer. These individuals often face poorer cancer outcomes, reflecting barriers in access, delayed diagnosis, and limited integration between mental health and oncology care. Kicking off today’s #ClinicialTrials training workshop with @cancertrials_ie for #AICRIstart and @eHealth4Cancer. Today we will be exploring the lifecycle of a clinical trial, from concept to completion. Our PhD & postdoctoral researchers are gaining first-hand insight into designing, managing & analysing cancer trials and presenting their own research to CTI team of experts.
