Anne Hathaway says she was the ninth choice to play Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada. “I wasn’t the first choice to play Andy Sachs.” “I was actually the ninth choice.” “I couldn’t understand why everyone kept turning down such an amazing part in such an amazing movie.” “Every time another actress passed, I’d think, ‘Okay, I’m still here.’” “Then they’d say, ‘We’re going to someone else.’” “And I’d think, ‘Okay… but I’m still here.’” “I just kept putting myself forward.” “I refused to take my eye off the prize.” “The project had this unbelievable, almost mystical magnetism to it.” “I could feel it.” “I kept telling myself, ‘It doesn’t matter how you get on this project. Just get on it.’”

ᴠ ɪ ɴ ᴛ ᴀ ɢ ᴇ In 1966, Brooklyn born photographer Danny Fitzgerald captured this image and called it “Diver, New York.” Fitzgerald built his reputation on male physique photography, carefully processing every print in his own studio. He first released much of his early work under the pseudonym Les Demi Dieux, meaning “The Demigods.” Drawing inspiration from cinema and painting, he moved away from rigid studio poses and instead embraced natural settings with bold, dramatic compositions. I have to admit, the first time I saw this photo I thought it was Tom Hardy from a much more recent time. Oops. What a timeless shot.

Only a few more days left, and The Odyssey, even on premium large screens, barely has any tickets sold... In this example, similar show time, same movie theater, only 2 tickets sold on the big screen, and the IMAX is almost full. Over 90% of the tickets sold went to 70mm native IMAX theaters. This means that the ticket sales and the enthusiasm are front-loaded... basically, those people who were going to see the movie no matter what because of Nolan, and they are IMAX enthusiasts. Ticket presales into the premium screens, regular IMAX, etc would indicate broad interest, but without it... that means a lot of people are gonna be skipping watching the movie. There are only thirty-nine 70 mm true IMAX screens worldwide, and only 24 of which are in the US. The fact that there are STILL seats available even in the limited 70 mm IMAX screens only a few days out is a bad sign for the movie. This means opening weekend will be pretty good, about 80-120 million. Then there will be a sharp drop-off in the 2nd week and beyond.

I can't believe I just saw THE ODYSSEY in 70mm IMAX. The visuals. The music. The cinematography. Its hard to contain the emotion and excitement. I can't share with you anything, but look at my goosebumps on my legs. Absolutely Life changing.

My 11-year-old is excited to see THE ODYSSEY with me tomorrow at the 10 a.m. press screening, entirely because he’s a huge Greek mythology nerd. My 79-year-old mother asked me about THE ODYSSEY after she saw Matt Damon talk about how big and challenging it was. It’ll be fine.
