I particularly enjoyed Paul Bettany as Ledger's hype-man and the peasants in the stands chanting "We will rock you".
Obviously these were not historically accurate in any way, but the vibe they put across is correct.
If you want to actually help a "modern audience" connect with a work, that's how it's done.

If you want a solid, cheesy film that isn’t transgressive that also has a great story to it and message with inspiration, A Knights Tale is one of my absolute favorites. It has a peasant becoming a Knight, but it hits even at the beginning something I find quite profound, where Will says “How did the Nobles become Noble? They took it, at the point of the sword!” It’s not about overthrowing the old order or remaking the world. It’s about a man coming into it, with his ambition, his skill, his opportunities and taking as much as he can to achieve what he wants and changing his own destiny. And then, the way in which he becomes legitimized is the chivalric Knightly virtues he displays in interacting with the Prince of England who rewards him by truly knighting him when he is shown to be a fraud. But it isn’t about how this order and this world is bad, but a man coming into it. And it’s just very fun overall, with a much more hopeful showing of the Middle Ages. It’s great, would highly recommend. Just a fun movie with a good story that appeals to the basic heroism that inspires. Becoming a Knight, engaging in the sport and the jousts, making something of yourself in the world, getting the girl and beating your enemies. Fantastic film.

🚨 Day 2 update, continued.. 🚨
The state continued its questioning of the first witness, the father of the 10-year-old child (who was 9 at the time of the incident).
Two interpreters were required, rotating every 30 minutes.
The father testified that he works as a bus driver (odd given that he does not speak English and bus drivers typically need a driver’s license with English proficiency requirements.)
The viral video was then played for the jury and the courtroom.
After laborious, often repetitive and seemingly coached questioning by the state, the father eventually stated that he saw his son take an item from Shiloh’s belongings. He said Shiloh chased after the boy, and he believed she was pursuing him not only to retrieve her property but also to “rumble” with or strike him.
Just as defense attorney Brian Karalus began his cross-examination, the clock approached 5:00 p.m. and the judge adjourned for the day.

Day 2 update, continued… The state’s first witness, the father of the child, testified that the child was actually 9 years old at the time of the incident. Not 5, not 8. He further testified that he wears a police-installed ankle monitor because the child runs off 2–3 times per day and must be held by the hand at all times.
