@Laissezmoitranq On est deux dans un couple. Il dit clairement qu'il était seul. Acculé par bien des facteurs mais notamment par sa femme.
Le souci est aussi là, la conjointe (qui se plaint de la charge mentale) devient une vraie nazie.
Il lui reste, la dépression, le suicide ou la fuite.

I often think about a consequence of the shrinking family (many with no siblings, even higher percentage with no opposite-sex siblings) that is rarely talked about: when you combine it with a collapse in friendship, and the number of households without both biological mom and dad, the percentage of people who have *never had a close relationship with the opposite sex* must be the highest it’s ever been, in history.
No wonder we have a dating problem and sex wars. IJS.

The fertility crisis isn’t only about people not having kids. It’s also about the disappearance of the large family. Even in 1980, roughly 1 in 3 American women had four or more children. Today, it is less than 1 in 8. My argument: modern parenting does not scale. The way we raise children now has made large families feel unrealistic for many parents who might otherwise have welcomed them.

People will say this is anti-child but I think it’s a reaction to the gentle parenting trend.
The last two times I was at nice restaurants I was seated near children under 5. One family had two toddlers on loud iPads and didn’t not parent them when they became unruly.
The other family had a baby that screamed for almost half the meal. We were with an older relative who told me they weren’t even allowed to go to a restaurant until they were well into elementary school and could act respectfully.
No one wants to listen to a screaming child when they’re out for a nice meal.
Not all spaces are or should be child friendly.
I’ll also add—I’d love to see restaurants adopt airline device rules. Take phone calls outside and wear headphones if you want to watch something.

When mine were babies, I had many cold meals in styrofoam. I’m happy I did.

@LeannaRapier @JTAlexander Dépend on the language I suppose. In french, a speed reader is more than 1200 words per minute, so one hundred page per hour is under the limit. Yes, 3 hours of downtime can be hard to find but it the same time people are usually on their tv-phone

A funny story about how I accidentally ended my wife’s interest in BookTube.
There was this girl she was watching that claimed to read 200-300 books a year. One of the books that came up in her list, somehow, was G.K. Chesterton. In her review, this girl said “It was good, I think, but I just couldn’t understand it.”
I told my wife two things:
(1) There is not one human that actually reads 300 books a year; and,
(2) If anyone could read that much, they’d have no problem understanding Chesterton.
I told her I bet that she just constantly had an audiobook on literally all the time playing at 2x speed like background noise.
Within a week, my wife showed me a new video of this girl admitting that my prediction was dead accurate.

Le calcul financier pur donne raison à l'auteur dans certains cas (surtout dans les grandes villes où les prix sont élevés et les rendements locatifs faibles).
Mais il oublie une variable : le loyer est une charge qui augmente avec l'inflation, le crédit immobilier est une charge fixe.
Sur 25 ans, le locataire voit son loyer potentiellement doubler ou tripler pendant que le propriétaire rembourse toujours la même mensualité.
Puis, même dans les cas où louer moins cher et investir le delta en bourse bat l'achat d'une résidence principale : en pratique, la grande majorité des locataires ne le font pas (ils dépensent la différence).
L'immobilier est un investissement forcé avec un effet de levier garanti par la banque. Pour quelqu'un qui n'a pas la discipline d'investir en bourse, acheter reste souvent la meilleure décision patrimoniale de sa vie.

Acheter sa résidence principale à crédit (en dehors de l’aspect religieux) c’est vraiment le pire « investissement » à faire. Payer son bien 1,5x son prix et avoir des charges mensuelles plus élevée qu’en étant en location (frais de notaire + apport + crédit + intérêt + assurance emprunteur + taxe foncière + travaux etc…) tout cet argent immobilisé dans le bien est de l’argent qui aurait pu être fructifier ailleurs, et sur 25 ans ça fais une perte énorme. Et concernant l’économie de loyer après les 25 ans, il faudra des décennies avant que ce manque à gagner soit rentabilisé.
