We hauled-out the acoustic receivers for the last time yesterday! These 10 receivers have been collecting data on tagged cod fish in offshore wind energy areas for the last 3.5 years. Bittersweet moment as I trade in fieldwork and boat days for dissertation work and data

@BarbieriSue Acoustic telemetry was used to support stock ID of Atlantic cod in US waters, particularly to study spawning dynamics of overlapping populations. Link to the full cod stock id report: repository.library.noaa.gov/view/noaa/48082

Although clearly acoustic telemetry is changing our understanding of movements and space use I am hoping folks can share if they know cases where results were used in a stock assessments? Presumably for stock ID or mortality (discard or natural)….other?

Interesting paper for folks in the Northeast US thinking about the effect of offshore wind pile driving on spawning cod. Results suggest the cod stay focused on their job!
