💢 A breakdown of how the incident in Tel, Nablus unfolded: The Palestinian man, Farouk Ramadan, initially appears to be trying to protect another Palestinian (likely his brother) when an armed settler hits him in the head with a rifle. (Image 2) As he moves away, he is kicked or struck from behind. Still, he retreats again. (3) Israeli settlers or the surrounding soldiers (under whose protection the incursion appears to be taking place), then fire live shots. The sounds of gunshots can be heard clearly in the video. (3) An armed Israeli settler then charges directly at Ramadan and a fellow Palestinian with a gun raised and pointed at their chest, closing distance between them, as gunshots are heard in the background. Ramadan disarms him, takes the rifle, and aims at the settler, and purportedly shoots him dead. (1) On the sequence visible in the footage, it is clear he is acting in self-defense against an imminent armed threat than the “terrorist attack” senior Israeli officials are calling it and using to justify pogroms in Palestinian villages. Five Palestinians were ultimately killed in the broader settler and Israeli military forces attack in this incident. Dozens more have been wounded and property damaged since.

The video shows how the massacre started in the village of Tal, near Nablus. Israeli settlers raided the village, and unarmed Palestinian residents tried to defend their homes. Israeli soldiers and armed settlers then opened fire on them. During the attack, one Palestinian took a settler’s gun to defend himself against the armed settlers. Five Palestinians were murdered in cold blood, while one Israeli settler was also killed.
