In their latest investigation, Africa Uncensored together with Ukweli Africa revisited the deadly raid at the home of MP Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi — an operation that left at least 10 people dead. According to the investigation, the victims were polling agents, supporters and helpers connected to Kivumbi. At the time, President Museveni defended the operation by claiming the victims were “terrorists” allegedly attacking polling stations with pangas. But the investigation now challenges that narrative, presenting evidence and testimonies that sharply contradict the official government account. For many Ugandans, this raises painful but necessary questions: Who were these people really? Why were they killed? And why has nobody ever been held accountable? As more investigations continue to emerge, the gap between the government’s version of events and what witnesses say happened on the ground appears to be growing wider.
