@SirBylHolte That episode had me howling with laughter. The way the show mixes comedy and horror is unique.

I was on the fence with Apple TV’s “Widow’s Bay” - until this week jaw-dropping episode. The show follows a small fishing town slowly unraveling under a wave of supernatural events, disappearances, paranoia, and old secrets that seem tied to the town itself. At first it feels like a familiar “quirky mystery town” setup: eccentric locals, strained families, small-town politics, creepy folklore, gloomy docks, and endless fog. But Episode 4 (“Beach Reads”) is where the series suddenly sharpens into something much more intense and specifically horrific. It shifts focus to Patricia (Kate O’Flynn), the awkward, neurotic assistant to the town mayor (Matthew Rhys), and her painfully cringey attempt to throw the island’s biggest party of the year. What starts as awkward small-town social humiliation quickly spirals into pure, skin-crawling horror. If the second half of the season maintains the quality of Episode 4, "Widow’s Bay" could end up being one of Apple TV’s better genre series. Was anyone else blown away by that episode 4 plot twist?

@Foldedspace @SirBylHolte Pluribus is really good but it's one of the slowest burns on TV. So that's a matter of taste (my gf can't stand it, I love it). Widow's Bay is also really good, not a slow burn, so an easier recommend.

@i_am_potetoman @Zzrott1 My favorite thing going to Japan was learning tonkotsu wasn't the most popular. In LA, all we have is tonkotsu and it costs $25-$30/bowl. Tonkotsu is the worst of all ramens in my opinion.

Question for everyone so concerned about weight cuts…what’s worse, training your body for mma and hitting each other in the head for years or weight cuts? Then ask yourself which one you guys cheer for.
Mike Ginn@_akamike

@kennyflorian I think weight cutting should be eliminated. It's only an advantage if you are the only one doing it. If you both are doing it, you both are draining yourself for no reason.

@DDafney24 Funniest part is finding out post-game reporters think they're doing something. "What are your thoughts on how your defense played?" I thought they were in on the joke that it's 99% meaningless questions, 99% meaningless answers. So who cares

The fact that there are people in media shaming this is the reason why athletes don’t like reporters. This lady decided to give a first year head coach a positive message after a tough loss and speak some life into him and yall have the nerve to say it’s unprofessional?? Since when is being kind to someone unprofessional?? Yall have really lost the plot, and it’s unfortunate that some of you believe your silly questions are more important than the actual people you’re asking the questions to…Do better

@AllDayUCLA @OctoDragonNinja @CapnKibs I would be very saddened if we have to wait that long, but the current pace of the gaming industry of today worries me, with fewer major hits than in previous decades, and if one does succeed, it tends to be ruined by external pressures (Bioware, for example).

KCD2 undoubtedly the best rpg of the year for me, my biggest annoyance was these two things even existing. They felt out of place and like check boxes, Musa, an annoying twat, the gay optional choice, which I found out later existed, is again. Not necessary. It only lost you sales for an otherwise excellent game. Removing these elements would only help polish the game, like removing an ugly blemish from an otherwise refreshing, immersive sandbox RPG.

@RaffyCruz45 @OctoDragonNinja @CapnKibs Yeah if it's 2060 let's hope we're still not saying those are the Games of the Century. For now Witcher 3 is also up there, and my odd pick is Triangle Strategy which is the most underrated game of the century IMO

@OctoDragonNinja @AllDayUCLA @CapnKibs Obviously, my friend, but what have we had these past few years? KCD2 isn't Skyrim, but they're in the same boat.I only hope that in the near future we'll have others that equal or surpass it, but we risk having games that become an embarrassment, as has happened before

@orbalology Honestly it's E33 at this point. Trails 1st is second, FF7 is third, so good list. DQ11 is JRPG distilled down to its purest form (I think whether something is a "JRPG" boils down to how far it deviates from DQ), but I think it's a little too cutesy and safe to rec to 1st timer

I get asked a lot on stream what the best JRPG is for newcomers. My usual answer is to try whichever game looks cool and give it a go. But that said, here are a few picks I think make perfect first JRPGs. If you have any other suggestions, you know what to do 👇

College football has changed so much and many people say for the better but I disagree. Here are my 5 reasons: 1. All 4 QBs in the semis are transfers 2. Ole Miss and Indiana are portal programs who does not and will not develop any HS talent. 3. 1/2 of the rosters of the losing teams will leave by Saturday despite having a historical season. 4. Absolutely zero loyalty to the brotherhood that comes along with team sports. 5. Seeing a player stay multiple years at the same place has became a rarity when it should be the norm. College football needs a lot of work. PS (this has nothing to do with Bama)

@TBlingham @travisrookeley Only way is for him to pay damages to UW. He gives UW ~50% of his NIL. UW sets a precedent that they'll enforce contracts, he gets to leave, no one wants a situation where the QB and school hate each other

Just amazing comedy at UW: - Demond enters an entire team and fanbase turns on him, including Fisch’s wife trashing him on IG - Demond and Lawyer realize his contract has buyout and new school will have to pay $4 mil - Every school interested says no thanks because he isn’t good enough to be worth anything near that - Williams has literally zero options but to return to UW - UW so desperate that Jedd and Co allow him to come back. Strong culture!!!

We’re going to spend decades as a culture getting whipped into frenzies by partisans using online video. Before it was leftists with police videos that often told less than the whole story. Now it’s this dishonest immigrant baiting on the right with zero journalistic integrity.

I along w everyone I know learned about Minnesota fraud in Somali communities like a month ago, from a front-page NY Times article. When NYT avoids a story, that is routinely cited as proof that the "mainstream" is downplaying it. When NYT features it, shouldn't that count?
Jimmy Gandhi@jimmygandhi

@AliceFromQueens The PPP fraud was covered extensively on X. The mainstream didn't give it the same publicity. Same with the Minnesota fraud.

Chip Kelly as an offensive coordinator is one of the wildest timeline shifts in college football. This isn’t Northwestern ‘taking a swing’ this is Northwestern saying experience beats hype. A guy who’s run Oregon blur, survived the NFL, and adapted at UCLA now game-planning for the Big Ten West? Either this quietly changes how we talk about Northwestern… or the rest of the league just underestimated how dangerous humility + knowledge can be. Coordinator Chip Kelly might be scarier than Head Coach Chip Kelly.

Sources: Northwestern is hiring veteran coach Chip Kelly as the school’s new offensive coordinator. He’s a two-time college (Oregon/UCLA) and NFL head coach (Philly/SF) who brings an expertise in varying systems and personnel, which was appealing to Northwestern.
