The Strength of Iran's Retaliation Is overwhelming the Entire Middle East Iran has been relentlessly attacking various American bases across the Middle East and is escalating its strikes to include airports in those countries. Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates are facing continuous bombardment from Iranian forces, who appear to show no fear of any potential retaliation. Just this morning, Iran already launched hundreds of missiles against Israel and Gulf countries, yet those nations still seem hesitant to retaliate, intimidated by the sheer force and scale of Iran's attacks. Barrages of missiles have struck Israel multiple times, completely overwhelming air defenses on this night.. The Iranian regime appears to have prepared thoroughly for the coalition's attacks, by decentralizing its command structures and with innovative tactics for missile launches. They are fighting for their very survival, which has produced a response far more intense than the United States and Israel anticipated. The problems posed by the intensity of Iran's attacks are twofold: 1. The coalition has so far been unable to neutralize or significantly degrade Iran's missile launch capabilities. 2. At the current rate, interceptor stocks that previously would have lasted 15–20 days may now be depleted in just 10 days. This is a serious issue, as it could force the United States into signing a ceasefire while bearing immense political damage from the conflict. Why does the current scenario cause so much concern? Because this type of war, intense aerial missile attrition, is precisely where the US and Israel hold a traditional advantage. However, if the conflict escalates to the naval domain, where the US currently has only one carrier strike group in the region, the environment could become highly unfavorable. Today, all of Israel's submarines have sortied. It is unclear whether they headed to a protected location or are transiting the Suez Canal to engage Iran. Also today, an Iranian frigate was damaged in port by what appears to have been a maritime missile or a drone-launched strike. This seems to mark the opening of the naval phase of the war that we are likely to witness in the coming days

Managing Public and Passenger Service Buses It is time for us at @MoWT_Uganda to stop hiding our heads in the sand and blaming others for road carnage. The first step in solving any problem is acknowledging that the problem exists. For more than 20 years, we have pointed fingers at everyone else without looking honestly at our own systems and responsibilities. A single bus carries an average of 67 passengers, excluding the driver. The stakes are extremely high. The tragic Kiryandongo accident, where more than 40 lives were lost, showed us what happens when oversight fails. The management of these buses is not optional (it is a matter of life and death for Ugandans). Modern fleet management does not operate on guesswork or subjective judgment. It relies on Onboard Computers (OBCs), the same systems used by Vivo Energy, TotalEnergies, and every serious logistics company that values safety, efficiency, and transparency. These devices are not luxuries; they are the backbone of contemporary transport oversight. When properly installed, calibrated, and enforced, OBCs transform a bus from a simple mechanical vehicle into a real‑time, data‑driven safety platform. They capture speed, braking patterns, driver behaviour, route deviations, idling, fuel consumption, and mechanical anomalies. They remove the ambiguity and inconsistency that come with relying solely on human judgment. In 2019, when Hon. Ntege Azuba was still Minister, I presented a proposal to the Ministry’s Top Management Team. The idea was straightforward: to avoid the chaos that surrounded the Speed Governors, the Ministry would contract a single supplier to supply, install, and manage OBCs for an initial period—perhaps six months. This would allow the Ministry to track the movement and behaviour of every bus without burdening individual operators upfront. Top Management rejected the proposal, citing lack of funds. YET I KNEW THE FUNDS WERE THERE. ADVANTAGES: THEY MONITOR DRIVER BEHAVIOUR IN REAL TIME A bus is only as safe as the subjective person behind the wheel whose behaviour is unpredictable. On‑board computers track: ⏩Harsh braking ⏩Sudden acceleration ⏩Speeding ⏩Cornering behaviour ⏩Reckless driving This data helps identify risky driving patterns long before they cause a crash. It also allows fleet managers to intervene early. systems—they expose inefficiencies and misconduct. THEY PROVIDE EVIDENCE AFTER INCIDENTS In the event of a crash or complaint, the system can reconstruct: ⏩Speed at the time ⏩Driver inputs ⏩Vehicle condition ⏩Route taken ⏩Time stamps THEY IMPROVE PASSENGER SAFETY AND COMFORT On‑board computers help regulate: ⏩Smooth acceleration ⏩Consistent braking ⏩Adherence to speed limits ⏩Proper stop management THEY SUPPORT NATIONAL ROAD SAFETY GOALS Aggregated data from buses can reveal: ⏩High‑risk routes ⏩Dangerous junctions ⏩Times of day with elevated crash risk ⏩Patterns of driver fatigue @ROSACUg @Parliament_Ug @PoliceUg Traffic @Akeda4 @Chrisestom1 @RSAIKenya @roadsensekenya @MinofHealthUG @UgandaRedCross @percy_mulamba @mofpedU @KCCAUG @StateHouseUg
