@Alverdonk @Simmons__ Yes, you can be a person with a disability and in receipt of UC, but not everyone in Receipt of UC is disabled. The vast majority of people on UC don't have a disability. Also not everyone who has a disability receives any goverment support, like myself.

'I'm sick of Britain pretending it's got a clout and a power that it doesn't actually have' Catch up now on today's Daily T where @CamillaTominey and @timothy_stanley discuss Starmer's trip to the Middle East for meetings with Gulf state leaders and ask, does the PM really have any say in the Iran ceasefire talks, or is this is a desperate, last-ditch strategy by Number 10 to portray him as an international statesman... 👇 Let us know your thoughts below 🎧 Listen to the full episode now through the link in our bio

@Alverdonk @Simmons__ Yeah but there are ways of broadening access that don't rely on particularised group targeting. For example in France lots of museums and monuments are free every first Sunday of the month. Broadens access without stoking resentment through preferential pricing

@Alverdonk @Simmons__ But it isn't someone being wheeled round is it. It's dossers taking advantage of the system. Nice try though.

@spectator Only the dribbling hateful retards will react to this. I don’t mind paying for my family and next to me a mother is wheeling around the father and able to take their two kids to the zoo at a lower cost than me Why would I lose my humanity that much? Pathetic hateful clickbait

Has Britain become a freeloader’s paradise? A working family of four will pay £111 for a trip to the Tower of London, or £108 to visit London Zoo. But with one parent on Universal Credit (UC) that drops to just £4 and £26 respectively. Michael Simmons says that on its own, UC is not particularly generous by international standards, but health-related top-ups transform the picture, while it is Britain's failure to incentivise people back to work that makes us stand out. @Simmons__

Many of these museums - like London Zoo - are public institutions. Their management shouldn’t be charging working people more, to give discounts to those on benefits. And the prices they charge are already ridiculously high for most families. They should be finding ways to cut the cost for everyone.

The welfare state isn’t a safety net anymore, it’s a parallel system with better perks. When dependency is consistently cheaper than self-reliance, the system doesn’t support people - it locks them in.

I genuinely can’t believe I’m reading this correctly!!! Why should being on benefits entitle someone to a near free trip to some of London’s biggest tourist attractions? These are places that thousands of working people pay full price for every single day. People who work hard are already struggling with the cost of living and often can’t even afford to take their own children to these places. Yet somehow, those on Universal Credit are being given access at a fraction of the cost. And then people wonder why more and more are claiming benefits. When the system starts rewarding those who aren’t working over those who are, something has clearly gone very wrong.

NATO is nothing but Americans providing free security for Europe. The time has passed. The shark has been jumped. Get out. They can take care of themselves. They have literally had generations to do it, and if they didn’t do it, it is no longer our problem. We are not the world’s security guard or the world’s piggy bank. #MAGA
