Great meeting with H.E. Omar Hejira, Moroccan Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, on the sidelines of the WTO 14th Ministerial Conference in Yaoundé. We discussed how to deepen our economic ties by fully leveraging the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and opening new pathways for our business communities.

On the sidelines of WTO MC14 in Yaoundé, I had an important meeting with the Omani delegation led by H.E. Pankaj Khimji, Advisor of Foreign Trade and International Cooperation. Building on our longstanding ties, we are committed to unlocking new opportunities for our business communities and taking our trade partnership to the next level across key sectors.

Today in Yaoundé, on the sidelines of the WTO 14th Ministerial Conference, I held a substantive meeting with my Ethiopian counterpart, H.E. Kassahun Gofe. We reviewed current trade flows and explored opportunities to expand cooperation across key sectors, agreeing to address barriers and create a more enabling environment for our business communities to trade and thrive.

On the sidelines of the WTO Ministerial Conference MC14 in Yaoundé, I held productive talks with my Turkish counterpart, H.E. Ömer Bolat. We discussed strengthening Somalia–Türkiye trade, boosting volumes, and expanding cooperation while building on our longstanding brotherhood. Somalia stands ready to work with Türkiye and global partners to advance shared prosperity and shape the future of global trade.

Pleased to join fellow Ministers and key trade stakeholders at the WTO’s 14th Ministerial Conference in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Together, we aim to deepen cooperation, drive inclusive growth, and position Somalia as a strategic hub for trade and investment in vital sectors.

H.E. @AmbGamal is participating in the 14th World Trade Organization @wto Ministerial Conference in Yaoundé,Cameroon, joining global leaders to discuss key multilateral trade issues, including WTO reform, digital trade, investment facilitation & international trade cooperation.

Very good meeting today with representatives from the United States Government. We had a substantive exchange on strengthening trade and investment ties, with a particular focus on Somalia’s significant potential in hydrocarbons and the broader extractive sector. Somalia’s resources are substantial, and we are committed to creating a transparent, conducive, and predictable environment for foreign direct investment.

1/1. H.E. Minister @AmbGamal met with the Minister of Justice & Constitutional Affairs, H.E @HassansheikhAli to advance Somalia’s commercial justice framework, including the creation of specialized commercial courts to ensure efficient and fair resolution of business disputes.

Leaving Addis Ababa after a successful AU Summit! A historic milestone for Somalia as we were elected to the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC) for the first time! Productive bilateral meetings were held throughout. Thank you, Ambassador @warfak1, for the warm hospitality and excellent work!

A pleasure to meet with H.E. Francisca Tatchouop Belobe, @AU_ETTIM Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry and Mining (ETTIM) in Addis Ababa. Truly encouraging to discuss the AU’s strategic initiatives for trade and entrepreneurship. We look forward to deepening our collaboration for a more integrated and prosperous Africa.

Great meeting with @claverGatete at @ECA_OFFICIAL today. We had a substantive discussion on driving job creation, accelerating AfCFTA implementation, and strengthening regional value chains to boost trade across the region.

Pleased to meet today with @AfCFTA Secretary-General @MeneWamkele in Addis Ababa. We discussed Somalia’s recent ratification of the AfCFTA and the opportunities it creates for Somali entrepreneurs and traders to expand their businesses across Africa.

Constructive meeting today with H.E. @RGrynspan, Secretary-General of @UNCTAD in Addis Ababa. We had a thoughtful exchange on how to deepen our partnership in modernizing trade, with a clear focus on accelerating the digitalization of core services. A key priority for us is building robust, commerce and investment-focused digital infrastructure that makes our commerce ecosystem more efficient, transparent, and responsive to businesses.

Great meeting with H.E. @CSBeatriceMoe, Kenya’s CS for EAC Affairs, ASALs & Regional Development, on the sidelines of the Somalia–Kenya Trade Week. We discussed deepening trade and investment ties—bilaterally and through the EAC—with particular focus on our border regions. The growth potential between our two nations’ private sectors is immense.

Honored to give a keynote speech at the Somalia–Kenya & Diaspora Trade Week in Nairobi. In my remarks, I highlighted the importance of building a balanced, mutually beneficial trade framework that advances shared prosperity between our two countries. Ultimately, it is the private sector that will drive sustainable growth, deepen cross-border ties, and power our economic transformation.

Somalia elected to the AU Peace & Security Council (2026–2028) today in Addis Ababa. A historic milestone that reflects Somalia’s return to its rightful place in Continental diplomacy. We thank all who supported our candidacy. @_AfricanUnion
