In about one hour, I will be arraigned on 4 felony counts and face up to 30 years in prison for taking this little guy out of a Ridglan cage. In addition to charging me, the government has banned me from contacting my co-defendants and is now trying to undermine my right to a speedy trial. But every corrupt and unconstitutional act by the government will simply make our case even stronger. We press forward to defend the right to rescue—and to defend the tens of thousands of other dogs (and billions of other animals) who remain trapped in cruel cages. Most importantly, we defend James. Every time I come home, he jumps in my lap and begs to be picked up. It was the first place he ever felt safe. Rescuing him was not a crime. It was one of the best things I've ever done. I relish the opportunity to defend rescuing James in court.

@legalbytesmedia If the parties has gone to trial, the best outcome defendants could hope for was no liability on the remaining three counts, which means they would have paid her nothing. That’s exactly what they got from this settlement. Sounds like a total victory.

This is a hard article to read, but I hope you'll do so. I've spent some time reporting on widespread rape and other sexual violence of Palestinian male and female prisoners by Israeli authorities, and the article is now published. The assault victims were warned not to give speak of what they endured -- they were sometimes told they would be killed or raped if they gave interviews -- but they found the courage to do so. One man described being raped three times in a single day in Israeli prison, the third time after he tried to protest. A young woman said the guards would come in at the beginning of each shift and strip her naked and abuse her. Another reported that she was shown photos of herself being raped and warned they would be released unless she cooperated with Israeli intelligence. Even three children who had been detained told me they had been sexually abused. Look, whatever our position on the Middle East, we should be able to agree on being anti-rape. Sexual assaults were horrific when Israeli women were targeted on Oct. 7, and they're equally horrific when Israeli authorities use them against Palestinians day after day after day. A much needed reminder : only the lawsuit with Blake lively has been settled, Justin Baldoni's studio has four more different lawsuits against them, which includes claims of sexual discrimination (Ofc), racial discrimination and plagiarism.

They probably picked up discussions from the last time they met where the defendants said we’re not paying a penny. This time, Lively said, OK you don’t have to pay but can you issue a pablum statement in the passive voice that lets me save a little dignity, and the studio said OK. That took all of 5 minutes.

Settlements aren’t decided in an afternoon. That means that Bryan Freedman’s recent press bullshit was done while he KNEW there was a settlement brewing.
So Baldoni and his PR team were still trying to do what they could to hurt her even while she was trying to get it over with. Even after they admitted she made the sexual harassment claims in good faith.
Absolutely disgusting.
