The feds alone communicated to manufacturers they would not allow Chinese EVs in the country just before reversing themselves and allowing 49,000 Chinese EVs to enter. And the feds introduced the EV mandate that didn't recognize hybrids and waited until the last minute to change it. The feds were so excited about their 'big bet' on EVs. These subsidies distorted the market - manufacturers moved traditional manufacturing to the US to make room for EV production in Canada. Now, market demand has changed and the government is allowing almost 1/3rd of annual EV sales to be filled by Chinese manufacturers. The government deserves to be held accountable for these policy choices that have contributed to where we are today. @spaikin
