there are like 3 full-time film critics left in Canada. apparently, they have a club called @TFCA... which no one has ever heard of, but which is now imploding because an Indigenous actress' non-sequitur rant about how much she hates Isreal was cut from an obscure award video

@TFCA one issue here is that the organization (such as it remains) is a mash-up of old white dinosaurs from the glory days of late 20th-c film columns, to a new generation of they/them land-back BLM types who loathe israel and now dominate govt funding streams

100% agree, having just gone through the experience of watching a 2.5 million dollar movie I shot be completely fumbled and embarrassingly mishandled in the marketing and release. If the creative team was in charge we’d have had a fighting chance.
