@MichaelAArouet As a citizen of both Britain and Canada, it pains me that both should be among the richest countries in the world, but we've sacrificed tomorrow's prosperity for today's virtue signalling. Meanwhile, everyone loves Norway despite their oil and gas wealth.

@kinsellawarren Every time a story cones out that I send around to my buddies with the comment “Peak Canada”, some other story appears that’s even more Peak Canada. Absolutely no-one who doesn’t work for the government cares that Mike Rousseau didn’t speak French. No-one.

In 1972, when supply management was established, Canada had about 45,000 dairy farms. Today, we’re down to barely 9,000. Proportionally, the U.S. experienced a similar decline—without quotas. Supply management doesn’t save the "family farm". It doesn't save anything.
Markham Hislop@politicalham

An old boss of mine once explained dairy supply management as the price Canada paid for family farms. Do you want corporate farms or family farms? Even if family farms are corporations, they're still owned by Canadians. Or do you prefer US corp ownership of Canada's farms?

@manik199 And that’s why Japan signed a $56 billion deal with the US on March 19 for oil, natural gas, coal and nuclear energy provision. All of that could have been Canada’s.

While Trump humiliated himself, the United States, all Americans and the PM of Japan with the Pearl Harbor comments, PM Mark Carney pulled a Jake Ryan and surprised her with a birthday cake. Canada: still winning over America.

Canada just signed a $200 million deal for a new spaceport in Nova Scotia 👀 The 10-year agreement aims to give Canada its own launch site so Canada doesn’t have to rely on SpaceX and other foreign rockets to get satellites into orbit. The deal will support building independent launch capability on Canadian soil for satellites and defence needs. It will still take years before it’s fully running.

Why would a PE firm sell an asset at a LOSS when holding it keeps the 2% management fee alive? They wouldn't. That's the problem. This is what's called a zombie fund. $130 billion in AUM across 20 firms. No new flagship in 5+ years. Here's the top 10. Some surprising names on the list.

Not wanting to refer to Canada as "Turtle Island" doesn't necessarily make you "Anti-Indigenous" It does mean you don't want to sound like a virtue-signalling idiot. Because it is easily the stupidest name for anything ever made up.
Stuart Benson@LeftHandStu

It’s honestly wild that the CEO of one of Canada’s largest corporations is this openly and explicitly anti-Indigenous. Like he’s upset at calling Canada “Turtle Island.” You’d at least hope someone this wealthy would be less of a wet blanket.

I’ve watched F1 for 17 years and have missed only 3 races in that time and right now I’ve never felt so un interested or invested in this artificial season so far. Everything feels off, like nothing feels genuine, shit engines, paid PR commentators, censoring bad comments, faking speed telemetry, cars can’t get off the line, cars randomly spinning their drivers round for no reason, the illegal Mercedes again that everyone seems to be fine with, it’s laughable. The gap between F1 and WEC, Indycar in terms of entertainment has never been this big.

Even if Max Verstappen was in the Mercedes right now, he’d still criticize the new reg set. Just like Sprint races. He wins them the most and still wants them gone. He’s always been consistent about this. Max prefers the old school F1 era. 2010 or earlier, V10s, no batteries.
