What did we have growing up that children need more of today? I’ll go first: Social skills

@Caprico47634524 @ESL_fairy ontario‘s auditor general just released a report stating special education cuts have been deep and underfunding has occurred - is that enough of a fact for you…

@Caprico47634524 @ESL_fairy Cutting special education funding - is not related to declining enrolment… These kids are in the system, cutting their specialized Classes and supports and repeatedly dumping them into classrooms without help is a cost cutting measure

Just a reminder. School boards across Ontario are making huge cuts to staff and programs right now. Not because they hate kids. Because Doug Ford has stripped away their funding over the past 8 years. Put the blame where it belongs. #OntEd

@MikeJToronto Maybe he can pass a law - so he can attend whenever he likes and further avoid being accountable for his actions

@VernaSc46519779 Yes, but this weekend places are usually packed. I was shocked. Didn’t even have to line up to pay as I was the only one.

Went to 4 garden centres today and none were busy. Is it the weather or do people not have any money? I did my part to keep the economy going.

Nonsense! A drop in overall board enrollment should not negatively impact specialized programs like this one. Supervisors should be held to closer public account for these types of decisions on THEIR watch. #Onted #Ontpoli #PaulCalandra

SCOOP: TDSB to cut 15 specialized kindergarten classes for students with disabilities, after making the controversial decision last year to increase the size of the classes. It is the latest in a wave of cuts tied to a projected drop in enrolment: thetrillium.ca/news/education…

Closing specialized classrooms with high levels of 1:1 support and dumping vulnerable students with complex needs into regular classrooms with no additional supports other than telling their teachers to use visuals is not actually “inclusion”. #OntEd

@CanadianGirl991 @realcdnrhetoric And when those parents do send them to school- the teacher has to Prioritize the special needs kids safety over teaching the rest of the class. So valuable learning time is lost everyday, and that really adds up during k to 12…. Likely months of learning

@realcdnrhetoric In the 80's the special needs kids had separate classrooms and supports to meet the needs. It worked. Now those needs get lost in the shuffle, I don't blame the parents if they keep the kids at home.

When you put a nonverbal kid who needs toileting support into a regular class with 30 kids, you are basically telling them to F off and go somewhere else Looking at you, Doug Ford.

@Ange8D @8M7 @WendyGoodes I’m a disabled man in his 40’s. Don’t lecture me about health care. Funding is up massively in the health care file. From 60 billion to almost 110 now

@coachsteve99 @8M7 @WendyGoodes Actually the government wants it because they dont want to pay extra to for special education, principals, teachers and parents want specialized classes and school boards go into deficits to fund them

@coachsteve99 @8M7 @WendyGoodes What is important is service levels and they have all been cut (psychologists, speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, specialized classes, etc…) kids that used to get help 10 yrs ago get nothing
