Nearly half of Doctors in Kerala earn less than Rs 50,000 a month. A significant number of Doctors don't even earn Rs 30,000 a month.
I've shared a similar article last year about Doctors earnings in Tamil Nadu. It's like Kerala.
Nothing provides reasonable certainty for well settled life. Everyday life is a struggle for many - I'm not only talking about poor but professionals as well.
Because of income, many cannot be classified as poor. But they are really broke.
Shamika Ravi's data on number of poor people is not worth discussing again. I've clearly explained last year how with the threshold of income she is keeping, there may not be any poor people at all.
Many Indians are under poverty, provided you use practical amount of money required for even basic sustenance.
It is unfortunate that most people have no way out to break this vicious cycle.
Social mobility can longer be taken for granted say even if you are Doctor.
Vast majority of people would come under one of the two categories- poor or broke.
Financially meaningful life is limited only to 10% of our country's population.
Glad you said it. I have been crying hoarse on this topic for yrs. Many of my superspecialist students are today unemployed. Unwilling to beg, they r joining Gig Industry, BPOs and real estate business. By permitting opening of more & more Med Colleges in TN for bribes, they hv killed the Goose that lays golden eggs.
Why is Daily Nocturnal Hemodialysis not more prevalent in India? I believe it is primarily due to the unavailability of machines designed for home use.

Money Spent on Narendra MODI's foreign Trips since 2014- 2300 Cr
Net WORTH Declared by Narendra Modi - 3 Cr
So the Question Who Funds Modi
For these Trips
Especially the secret ones???
Glimpses of #bengalassemblypolls2026 :
Rajarhat New Town : @AITCofficial lost by 316 ( yes, 316) votes . SIR-related deletions: 24000
Manikchak : @AITCofficial lost by 13, 938. SIR-related deletions : 33000
Raninagar: @AITCofficial lost by 2701 votes . SIR deletions over 17000
Nabagram: TMC lost by 5919. SIR-deletions over 9000
Jangipara : TMC lost by 862 votes ( yes 862) . SIR-deletions over 5000
Pandabeshwar: TMC lost by 1398. Deletions over 5000
In multiple constituencies, the number of deleted voters was far larger than the final victory margin. In some seats, the margin was tiny — 316 votes in Rajarhat New Town, 862 in Jangipara, 1300 in Pandabeshwar. When deletions run into thousands or tens of thousands, it becomes statistically plausible that the deletions could have SIGNIFICANTLY INFLUENCED the outcome.
The rise and promises of a con artist
By Justice Katju
Filmstar Vijay has been sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Tamilnadu.
To my mind Vijay is a fraud, who resembles a slick huckster, who promotes sale and advertisement of his low quality and worthless products, using aggressive, flashy, deceptive, and dishonest tactics.
He declared, like Arvind Kejriwal, that he will ensure honesty in the state government if his party, the TVK, comes to power. But everyone knows what Kejriwal did after becoming the CM of Delhi
Assuming that Vijay remains personally honest as the CM, how can he prevent the army of his followers and hangers on, who helped bring him to power, from marauding, fleecing and looting the public ? Having helped Vijay come to power, they will, like Hitler's SA, now demand their pound of flesh. They will behave like Mamata Banerji's army of goons who, when she was the CM, would demand 'protection money' from shopkeepers and other businessmen by giving threats, with the police turning a blind eye for fear of being victimized.
Someone asked me how I can call Vijay a fraud when he has been the Chief Minister for only a couple of days ? After all, I have not seen his functioning as the CM.
My reply was that it is evident on looking at his election manifesto issued on 16th April, 2026, only a few days before the Tamilnadu elections.
In this election manifesto Vijay's TVK has promised the moon to the people of Tamilnadu.

I was surprised that, actor as he is, Vijay did not include a promise in his election manifesto that all unmarried women wanting to get married will be given a husband !
Where will the money to fulfill these promises come from ? Does manna fall from the sky, like manna ? And now Vijay has said that the state is broke, its treasury having been emptied by the previous governments.
To my mind Vijay is just a con man, a Pied Piper of Hamelin, who, like the Pied Piper, will lead the people of Tamilnadu, to disaster.
Very soon the people of Tamilnadu will get totally disillusioned, and see through his fraud, dissembling, play-acting, imposture, humbuggery, and sham
My mother, a deeply pious Christian, taught me many things in life. She told me, " I will not be with you forever in life. When you ever feel completely hopeless, clutching at straws, say this:
“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify Me.” Psalm 50: 15, The Holy Bible.
...About 50 days ago, an L4/L5 disc prolapse entered my life.
Initially, like many doctors do, I intellectualised it. Scans, medications, prognoses, timelines. Somewhere in that confidence was the quiet assumption that “I understand Medicine”.
But I am a Urologist, not a spine surgeon.
Then came the morning of May the 5th:
I woke up to discover I had lost the ability to walk and control of my bladder . As a doctor, I immediately understood the gravity of what was unfolding.
Within hours, I had developed full-blown Cauda Equina Syndrome, one of neurosurgery’s true emergencies. The comforting illusion that “there is still time” disappeared instantly. And almost involuntarily, my mind went back to that Psalm:
“Call upon Me in the day of trouble…”
I was admitted urgently to Kauvery Hospital, Vadapalani, Chennai, and taken up for emergency spine surgery. Hours, minutes, seconds mattered. There is something profoundly humbling about becoming a patient after spending decades being “The Doctor”.
One day, you are counselling frightened patients and families.
The next day, you are lying frightened, and awake yourself at 3 AM in just a hospital gown, staring at the ceiling, wondering whether your own body will fully cooperate again.
Medicine changes meaning when pain becomes personal.
You realise how vulnerable illness makes even strong people.
How terrifying neurological symptoms can be.
How deeply patients crave reassurance, even when they appear calm.
And how much kindness from nurses, technicians and paramedics truly matters.
As doctors, we witness suffering every day. But living through sudden illness yourself is an entirely different education. Thankfully, I was operated in time. I am now discharged, and recovering slowly, painfully, but with gratitude.
This experience left me with a few reminders:
-Never ignore red-flag spinal symptoms.
-Never normalise progressive neurological deficits.
-And never assume serious disease only happens to “other people”.
Health is not a permanent possession. It is a temporary privilege.
Today, I feel immense gratitude:
to Prof. Ranganathan Jothi Sir who operated on me, to the extraordinary nursing team at Vadapalani Kauvery Hospital,
to those who stood beside me quietly, unyielding as a rock in my hour of need, and to the simple ability to stand, walk and heal again.
Sometimes life changes not over years, but over a single morning.
Thankful to be alive. Thankful to be walking.
Dear @RahulGandhi
Time has arrived you to assume the National President chair of Congress Party.
You are 55 years old, you have learnt enough, you know enough, you understand enough and you are experienced enough.
People vote Congress NOT because of Kharge or Venugopal or Shivakumar or Reddy or Siddaramaiah or Kamalnath or Digvijay or Pilot or Gehlot but they vote because of Gandhi, Nehru and Indira.
People believe in the ideology of Congress.
So, NO MORE excuses, take charge.
BJP is getting its first CM in the form of Suvendu Adhikari in West Bengal since India’s independence.
BJP has won Assam for the third time in a row.
Yet none of this dominates the headlines.
It’s only Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the headlines.
That’s the aura of Congress. That’s the aura of Rahul Gandhi.
And they dream of a Congress-mukt Bharat 🥰
12% of the electorate deleted, massive doses of religious hatred pumped in, a totally biased & vindictive @ECISVEEP, the #Bengalassemblypolls2026 were not an election but electoral engineering. @MamataOfficial's statement, "I haven't lost and I won't resign," will HAUNT, as an INDICTMENT of the foul means the @BJP4India used to grab Bengal. Reup of my column. theprint.in/opinion/mamata…
From a journalist source who was part of the group that met CEC Gyanesh Gupta today 👇
Gupta ji repeatedly called himself “Tiger Zinda Hai.”
He said “Bengal Jita Diya” several times.
This shameless man is openly gloating about how he helped the BJP murder Indian democracy?!
Even before elections, Congress was very keen to tie up with TVK. Praveen Chakravarty, one of the key members in central Congress, met Vijay and conveyed interest in joining alliance with him.
After lot of hesitation, Congress joined the DMK alliance only in the last minute. I don't think Rahul and Stalin did any campaign together this time.
Very surprising that DMK failed to foresee Congress changing the stand.
@dmuthuk Sorry to say but you flip your ideology every few months
During lok sabha election you were supporting BJP
During TN elections you were supporting DMk
And now suddenly you are backing TVK n Congress
Virat Kohli brand value : ₹1,600 crore
PV Sindhu - Olympic gold winner : ₹100 crore
Neeraj Chopra - Olympic champion : ~₹150 crore
Kohli earns 10–16x more than Olympic champions
In the US, LeBron, Serena, Simone Biles are equally celebrated
India doesn't have a sports culture.
it has a cricket religion and 30 neglected sports.
Governor can maximum ask Mamata Banerjee to resign, but the Governor can never force her to do so. If Didi does not resign, the Governor can recommend President's rule. In that case, no political party will be able to remain as the ruler in Bengal. Again we have to face election in that case
@DrKamleshDarji1 No patient will ask you how many papers you have published.
Working hard during residency will buils your clinical skills which will help you treat patients better. In your case, interpreting specimens/ samples/ slides
Residency tip:
Push for authorship, presentations, and papers. Nobody will remember how many late nights you worked. They will remember what you produced.
