@actsofapostles_ @NoblestCalling We make them hold hands and sing "The Holy Ghost." I don't know why I picked that song, but it actually works pretty well!

@NoblestCalling This worked in my family. I'm not sure if it will work anywhere else. Whenever the kids would fight we'd calmly say that our family doesn't fight. Not in an angry, exasperated, scolding or disappointed tone. We are stating a fact dispassionately. Eventually it worked.

@NoblestCalling @kateiswell Peacock is the most underrated perk! Every Curious George episode is very helpful for our family. And we watched the World Cup in Spanish as an added bonus.

@kateiswell Yes it gets you grocery delivery and free shipping for their website, and it got us a free streaming service so it actually net costs us only like $4/month. So I am actually not sure it is cheaper for me to drive 😂

I fear you guys were right about Walmart+ being worth it. I am using and abusing grocery delivery.

@TresClare @TomStringham Ehh, I think President Holland's musket speech is a great example of harshness like Christ did. There are probably more examples that don't happen in GC but do happen.

I think we mostly agree, Tom. I am a persuasive writer—making arguments is what I do! Where I probably disagree is in the idea that we can take the Savior’s words in the NT and interpret that to mean that it’s ok to be intentionally harsh or mock others. Mostly bc I find no sich exceptions being given by our modern leaders and plenty to suggest otherwise from both their words and examples.

Don’t pile on, avoid arguing with people who might be young or more vulnerable than you, don’t take cheap shots, don’t be cruel, know when to stop, take Ls gracefully. For men, avoid talking to women the more forceful way you might to men. Use your real identity.

Planning vacations is how I relax. I’m planning on a big family trip out West in the late spring to visit the LDS Temple open house in SLC. I’d love to plan a week or two in Utah and the area. Where do you recommend seeing, staying and doing? For six kids between 4 and 13.

@politicalmath I've privately thought for years that my kids (and yours and others like ours) are going to take over the world in 20 years. Fine by me.

I can't blackpill about the future b/c I don't see this happening with my kids or their friends I see constant warnings of impending intellectual doom but my kids read for fun & gush over the latest book in whatever series they're into these days

@TomStringham Tom, I feel sorry for you. This is not the case for my family at all. My teenagers have other ward families that keep the same phones/dress/media standards we do. We're completely normal.

More and more I feel like I’m on my own. What standards do I teach my kids? Should members still avoid Sunday shopping? Should moms stay home with kids if possible? The answers from other members are often figure it out yourself, pray about it, why would you even ask that.

When we apply scripture stories and principles in the church, we usually apply them to individuals. Like “what are the Goliaths in your life?” or “where am I in the pride cycle?”. Which is fine, but it all seems to crowd out more collective kinds of application.

@SunsetRanchAZ Our son was cooked by a 12 year old at his last piano recital, even though he played a very difficult Chopin piece. But we didn't worry too much bc he has a pt job, plays the organ, sings, runs xcountry, etc.

@JReubenCIark The crashing out over a constitutional interpretation that went mainstream in the past 15 years not having SCOTUS full support is a little silly. It was always an uphill battle. The idea that birth tourism will somehow go nuclear is overwrought. Everyone needs to chill.

@latterdaylaura Friend of mine left her church in solidarity when new parents were asked to take their new baby outside bc it was distracting. She said the baby had barely made any noise. I had never heard of that before. Insanity.

@TomStringham @JReubenCIark Ehh, I know these guys are smarter than me, but from personal experience in AZ certain areas of the Valley don't cool down at night, not bc of AC, but concrete/rocks/modern landscape. Older areas, like around Mesa temple are noticeably cooler at night bc of grass/trees.

@JReubenCIark Wait but AC does heat up the outdoors locally, that’s the only place to put the heat it moves. Mostly matters at night but it raises urban temperatures by a degree or two. Part of the reason urban areas are warmer. news.asu.edu/content/excess…

@KelseaJ112 My lefty naturally used her left hand. If we handed her a crayon, she automatically used her left to grab and draw. That's how we noticed. She was probably 2.

Can someone tell me if being left handed is like natural in a way that can't be changed or if it is something learned? I'm just wondering if my daughter might be left handed but like isn't using her left hand because I'm right handed and have been teaching her to write that way.

@JReubenCIark Anecdotally, kids at BYUI get married as undergraduates; it's increasingly less common in Provo. Also, rent is cheap in ID. Rexburg is my preference for my kids.

@julieheglund I'm going to stick up for parents. I was at a week long youth activity where much of the youth dress was shocking, especially bc I knew the parents. On pick up day I realized kids were wearing underclothes w/o clothes over. Parents can't stop that.

@JReubenCIark @HB2552876 Vance is a great communicator, but doesn't sound like a politician. He's going to have a cute toddler, 3 other kids, and a smoking hot wife who adores him. He's going to win the primary.
