.@RaoulGMI: A big, un-tapped use case for smart contracts is yet to really be acknowledged. OTC derivatives = a multi-quadrillion dollar market. "When I was at Goldman there would be boxes of ISDA docs of which nobody knew the f*ck what was in them because the industry was growing too fast." Smart contracts fix this.

We’ve been helping them figure it out. As soon as TradFi can hop into lead position this will roll out. Give 6 months!

The dominant players in almost every crypto vertical are foreign. Stablecoin issuer, centralized exchange, DeFi protocol, etc. Without a durable market structure framework in place, the US will continue to fall behind in the digital assets race.

Hey @coinbase Issuing corrected 1099-DAs on April 13th is probably not best practice, ya know, given that most folks have either filed or will be shortly filing. You have absolutely bungled this and scared shitless for next year when you actually attempt cost basis

How do you even pay taxes. Everything is sent from Phantom to Coinbase so there is $0 cost basis on my form. They expect me to log every single meme trade I've ever made?

Been thinking about this a lot. I’m imagining a reworking of lawyer-client relationships entirely, within 2 years. Monthly flat rate billing. Platformized UI/UX client portal and workflows that enable smaller teams of lawyers utilizing AI tooling to deliver output at 3-5x scale

@big_duca @0xcryptotax No. First, a deduction is not the same as a credit. Second, the SALT deduction is quickly limited to $10k for higher income earners. That doesn’t get you far.

How is no one talking about the SALT tax deduction... Doesn't this effectively mean there is no benefit to living in a tax free state for most people? Am I crazy wrong cc @0xcryptotax.

@0xcryptotax @CryptoTaxGuyETH All great stuff but not applicable until Jan 1 after final regs. Personally I expect this ready to go for 2026 1099-DAs issued in Feb 2027. But this assumes proper and efficient Treasury operations 😳

The IRS just proposed new rules letting crypto brokers deliver 1099-DA tax forms electronically with no obligation to offer paper statements. The IRS has finally joined this millennium for 1099-DA reporting. Thankfully most CEXes are making these available digitally by default, but your gramps might be saddened by a lack of 1099-DA in the mail. ---- Brokers just need explicit consent (a checkbox or button click), but here's the catch: if you don't consent, your broker can cut you off entirely. They also don't have to let you withdraw consent once given. Brokers must keep your statements accessible online through Oct 15 of the following year and retain them for 7 years. This would only apply to 1099-DA (crypto), not stocks or other assets (yet). Comments are open now. Due to be published tomorrow, but draft proposal below:
