I'm so fortunate to have found Veganism as a cause to voice. It is validated by 2 fields that matter i.e. Science and Philosophy. Then there are people who take up random bullshit causes. "Holistic medicine", Mask+Vax Freedom, etc. Neither scientifically not philosophically valid

American and Texan here: Americans mostly use guns to kill their whole families or random people in road rage related incidents. Lots of times we use them to kill children too. Our 2nd amendment is 50% a cyanide pill we chew on all day and 50% a vanity project for suburban morons

@KingScrubba A lion has very little moral agency, it's ridiculous to call this evil. Human treatment of a lot of animals is evil, totally agree, but that's because man has so much more moral agency and the means to live without causing so much suffering. That doesn't apply to a lion.

@UjuAnya Nothing wrong with this if used in conjunction with other future tech (like gene editing of disease etc.) such that the baby's expected fitness is maximized. It's only concerning if this leads to sub-optimal/disease genotypes being passed on.

This is molecular rape. The egg chooses specific sperm that its own conditions favor. Implanting nanobots to force sperm into the egg and override its selection process is a violation of a human being’s body at the most basic level.

@NKcanthink @deepali_writes I doubt that the motivation is efficiency. There's no reason to think that allowing housemaids in the regular lift will make it inefficient. I can see the case for other kinds of workers being restricted to using what seems like a service lift, but not for housemaids.

@FarAwayAndy I suppose the typical response to this is that the difference which makes one edible but the other inedible is not necessarily biological. It can be interpreted as a loaded question which assumes that the differential treatment is justified by/based on biology.

Unfortunetly, I was vegan for 4 years and became malnourished. I did it “right.” Ate whole foods, all organic. I personally do not think eating meat is bad if sourced properly. You do not have to agree with that. I am not here to convince anyone or change minds. Veganism was not a good fit for me.

If you have not watched the halal slaughter video, I urge you to find it on my page or Restore Britain’s profile. Watch it and digest it. To treat animals like that is pure evil. No other word for it - evil. Animals writhing around in their own blood, having been stabbed in the neck. Strung up alive, whilst the blood pours out of their wound. Thrown around. Tortured. Desperately trying to escape whilst the men laugh and joke. Butchered alive. The fear that these poor animals must suffer through as they bleed to death. I feel sick watching it. This is happening to millions of animals - millions and millions. I refuse to eat halal or kosher meat. I will not do it. I use my local butcher because I don’t trust the supermarkets to properly label it. I will take every possible step to ensure that I am not supporting this evil industry in any way. I urge you all to do the same. Evil is the right word. I don’t care if Muslims or Jews get offended. This is Britain and we do NOT treat our animals like this. Of course a slaughter is an unpleasant process. We all know that. But the British do it in a way that is quick, humane and reduces unnecessary suffering. I am proud to lead a political party that would remove those religious exemptions on day one. Restore Britain will do exactly that. Reform have said they won’t, the Tories won’t ban it. Labour obviously not, nor the Greens. Restore Britain will. We will ban halal and kosher slaughter. I promise you that.

@thesneha_ The qualm is with you making absolutist statements like "for iron, you must consume animal meats" A claim like that is not supported by the literature, and doesn't follow from non-heme iron having "lower bioavailability." One doesn't NEED to supplement, but supps are convenient

Thank you. I know some micros are absorbed better from veg sources and the whole idea is to have mixed, veg/non veg diet. Ppl defending non-heme or vegetarian sources are not ready to accept that animal foods have an edge and there is no harm in supplementation if your dietary practice causes some deficiencies. I am a non vegetarian but I still take some supplements, and there is zero harm in that.

Spinach is not a great source of iron. Vegeterain sources contain non-heme iron which isn’t absorbed well by the human body. For iron you must consume animal foods and organ meat. Ex : Red meat, liver, kidneys, brain, heart etc. Most women are deficient in iron due to the loss of blood every month. So apart from getting it from food, women must supplement iron daily. Doe 40-60mg of iron preferably in heme form.

Spinach is high in iron, but pairing it with vitamin C dramatically increases absorption. Squeeze lemon on your spinach. This is not optional. This is chemistry.
