With a grateful heart, I sincerely thank His Excellency President Yoweri @KagutaMuseveni for appointing me Minister of State for Internal Affairs. It is a great honour, and one I do not take lightly. I understand just how big this responsibility is. Behind this appointment stand the hopes of millions of Ugandans, the safety of our communities, and the future of a country that continues to grow stronger under His Excellency's leadership. I step into this role with humility, with a deep sense of duty, and with a strong desire to serve well. I promise to work hard, to act with honesty, and to give my very best every single day. My focus will be simple and clear: to help keep our people safe, to protect peace in our country, and to serve Uganda with all the energy and care I have. Your Excellency, thank you. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for this chance to serve. By God's grace, I will work hard to prove that this trust was well placed. For God and my country.

AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT YOWERI KAGUTA MUSEVENI, PARLIAMENT OF UGANDA, AND THE LEADERSHIP OF THE NRM From: Kilama Peterson A Concerned Citizen Son of a Retired Soldier & Counseling Psychologist Your Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni @KagutaMuseveni, Rt. Hon. Speaker Anita Among @AnitahAmong, Rt. Hon. Deputy Speaker , @Thomas_Tayebwa,@NRMOnline And the Parliament of Uganda @Parliament_Ug, I write this letter as a concerned citizen, a son of a retired (NRA) soldier, and a Counseling Psychologist who deeply believes in national stability, institutional respect, and political accountability. Uganda has recently witnessed discussions and speculation surrounding ministerial appointments and the future political direction of several senior leaders within government and Parliament. Among the names many Ugandans expected to see elevated or politically protected was Rt. Hon. Anita Among. Love her or hate her, history will record that Anita Among became one of the most visible Speakers Uganda has ever had. She transformed the Speakership from a traditionally quiet institutional office into an active political center that directly engaged with the masses. Across districts, regions, and political gatherings, she openly mobilized support for President Museveni and the ruling establishment. In many ways, she gave the Speakership unprecedented political visibility. However, leadership also comes with controversy, and it would be dishonest to ignore the difficult chapters that surrounded her tenure. The corruption allegations, public criticism, and especially the iron sheets saga significantly affected public trust in Parliament and dented her political image nationally and internationally. Ugandans also witnessed moments where political pressure appeared to isolate her within the system she tirelessly defended. During the peak of the political storms, conversations emerged suggesting temporary withdrawal from active Speakership responsibilities while Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa gained stronger institutional endorsement and visibility. These developments left many citizens wondering whether loyalty in politics still guarantees protection, recognition, or political security. Mr. President, this letter is not written to defend corruption, nor is it intended to attack institutions of government. Accountability must remain a pillar of leadership. But fairness in politics also matters. If leaders are celebrated during political mobilization seasons, they should not be abandoned during moments of public pressure and political vulnerability. Anita Among carried the burden of defending government positions before the public, mobilizing support nationwide, and standing firm for the ruling establishment even when criticism intensified. That contribution cannot simply be erased from Uganda’s political history. As a concerned citizen, I believe Uganda must learn to balance accountability with institutional dignity, political loyalty with justice, and public criticism with fair judgment. To Parliament @Parliament_Ug this is a reminder that institutions become stronger when they protect both integrity and fairness. To Rt. Hon. Anita Among @AnitahAmong, leadership is ultimately tested not during moments of celebration, but during seasons of resistance, criticism, and survival. And to @KagutaMuseveni, many Ugandans continue to observe how your leadership rewards sacrifice, manages loyalty, and preserves those who politically stand with you during difficult times. History is watching. Ugandans are watching. And the future generation will interpret today’s political decisions differently from the emotions of the present moment. Thank you. Kilama Peterson A Concerned Citizen & Counseling Psychologist

If the president wanted to use the expertise of Dr. Lawrence Mugaga, he should've appointed him to the Education ministry instead of Internal affairs.

One thing for sure, you can’t predict president @KagutaMuseveni. The entire greater North ( Acholi, Lango and Westnile has less than 14 ministers. Teso reduced to three, predict the old man at your own risk.

I congratulate the Rt. Hon. Speaker Jacob Oboth Oboth and Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa and thank the MPs for carrying out their mandate of voting, peacefully and transparently. The NRM candidates obtained more votes than the NRM members in the House, and I note the votes our ally Mao took away. We shall address this because we want a united Parliament that serves our people better.

I have seen mixed reactions from a section of the public regarding my decision to nominate the Mawogola North MP Aine Sodo Kaguta. I understand the backlash and I absorb it in good faith. But well here is why I did so; my move was sarcastic and intended to address the issue of nepotism which has largely characterized the NRM regime. A single family has dominated all the arms of government (cabinet, judiciary and executive) and they now decide how these other arms should be constituted. They have demonstrated that they can decide who becomes Speaker or Chief Justice yet these two arms of government are meant to be autonomous. It is against this background that I decided that Hon. Sodo, a member of the ‘First family’ equally takes up the position of the Deputy Speaker since their family lust for authority and power is insatiable. To comrades who have not understood my move, please be guided that this was entirely sarcastic and that can be judged from the diction that I used to drive my point. Thank you! #PeoplePowerOurPower

Yusuf Kiruluta Nkeretanyi (NUP) has nominated Sodo Aine Kaguta for the position of deputy speaker, on the account that his family (Kaguta) has sacrificed many of its members to lead Uganda. 😂
