Homosexuality had been legal for nearly 2 centuries in France (and countries like Belgium, etc.) before the first U.S. state legalized it in 1961. Not all cultures in the Americas practiced human sacrifices and basically none did it at the scale of the Aztecs. For the Aztecs it was a core part of their culture.
