The Closer MRD
The Closer MRD@GettheSave9th·
Bullpen Notes🗒️(4/28) TBR: Cole Sulser with the save. He was covering for Baker who had pitched back to back. He allowed a couple guys to reach but prevented any runs from scoring. Baker is the closer keep adding him. HOU: Bennett Sousa logged an inning of work and struck out three. He needs a couple more work innings but if they go well he will be pitching late in games maybe even closing until Hader is ready. Sneaky add in deep leagues right now. BAL: Rico Garcia was the 1st out of the bullpen and got out of a jam in the 6th. Kittredge put a couple guys on to start the 7th but struck out three to get out of it. Nunez gave up a couple runs in the 8th. Helsley closed it out getting 2,3,4 out and making his 1st appearance in a week. Helsley is locked in as the closer and Kittredge looks like he is going to be a solid holds guy with Rico Garcia. STL: They were blowing PIT out late in the game but Bruihl and Svanson started to make things interesting. Svanson got out of it but it does appear ROB got up in the 9th. That would indicate he is fine which is great news. TOR: Really solid bullpen effort tonight. Hoffman took the 7th, Roger the 8th, and Varland the 9th. When all was said and done they went three innings with 6 k's and no one reached base. As I and several others have noticed Varland's last two saves prepped him for tonight as he pitched a perfect 9th with three strikeouts. He really looks like he is ready for this role. I would be adding him anywhere I still can and this likely is the end for Jeff Hoffman in saves leagues. He would still have some value if holds are a category. WSN: Brad Lord pitched a couple early innings today. I don't think many were out there adding him but he looks like he is more of a bulk guy than a closer option right now. I will be removing him from my committee and really he has no value in any standard or holds leagues. ATL: They had a 5-0 lead in the 9th and Aaron Bummer gave up a two run homer. Just pointing out there was no save situation even though it ended 5-2. LAA: They spent most of the game down but used Suter and Fermin. I would eliminate Suter from closer talks at this point. Fermin has been decent but he was called up yesterday so lets pump the brakes on him too. If everyone else fails he might see a chance but that wont be for at least a week if not longer or ever. MIL: Three inning save for Woodford. Just a procedural thing. He isn't going to be closing or pitching important innings. MIN: The bullpen gave up 5 runs in the last three innings that turned a close battle into a blowout. Funderburk let an inherited runner score in the 7th and had one of his own score in the 8th. Sands was on in the 8th and gave up an absolute bomb to Naylor. Go watch him pimp it because it is hilarious. Recently added Luis Garcia struggled in the 9th giving up a couple. He isn't much of a pitcher but he could make some noise in this poor bullpen. Deep Deep sleeper range. Business as usual for this bullpen. NYY: Somewhat typical erratic save from David Bednar. There was an error mixed in so that didn't help. He would have had the 1st two out. Instead he gave up a triple, hit a guy and gave up a single before getting a double play to get out of the jam. Cruz and Headrick had traffic in their innings as well but the Rangers couldn't capitalize until the 9th and it wasn't enough. Bednar is very good closer. KCR: Bullpen pitched well tonight but Lucas Erceg got the save in the 10th. He loaded the bases with a walk and a baby grounder plus the ghost runner. In the end he got out of it and his velo was back at 97. He's the closer as we monitor Carlos Estévez rehab which was supposed to start today. ATH: One of the big moments tonight was Jack Perkins finally pitching a 9th inning and only a 9th inning. He was pitching in the top half which is the closers spot. Kuhnel had not pitched in the game. Harris blew the save in the 6th and Sterner took the loss in the 10th. Sterner is just a terrible pressure pitcher. Anyway it looks like Perkins might have the job here. Obviously I want to see what happens next outing or next couple outing but Perkins should be added everywhere. LAD: I got so tied up in my boy Pete getting hurt last night I forgot to mention the Dodgers. Well tonight they used Scott in the 7th just like last night. He faced the top of the lineup but it was still in the 7th. Treinen pitched the 8th and Dreyer had the 9th. Pretty murky situation here and I still think Scott and Vesia are the two main options. They really need a RHP to emerge late in the game because I don't think Treinen will cut it. If you have Scott you are likely holding him for now. MIA: They gave Tyler Phillips are real shot at the 9th tonight after he blew the save last night coming in with the bases loaded. He converted the save facing the bottom of the lineup and only giving up a weak single which could have been an error (home cooking). Bender pitched the 7th and no Faucher who had pitched back to back nights. These are the three guys who I think will be in the mix. Phillips has good stuff and while he tries to force his tough guy persona on us with his face slapping entrance it remains to be seen if he can actually close. Last year they used a frustrating committee for most of the season and that is what I expect this year. Take you pick from the three I mentioned though I would lean Faucher or Phillips. #FantasyBaseball #Closers #Bullpens #MLB #Mr9thInning

$MSOS *tap sign*- Timing risk, not outcome risk. We do not need the rule to be fully done and implemented for price to appreciate. Markets move in anticipation. Rational action is buying ahead of the event, not waiting for the all-clear after the move is gone. There is still no indication that it is not happening. None whatsoever. That is a major difference versus prior cycles, where there was plenty of talk but no real directive behind it. Acting AG is trump loyalist and will execute accordingly.

Both the White House and the DOJ tell me they're working on this but have offered no timeline. A DOJ spokesperson said this morning the department "is working to implement the President’s executive order on rescheduling, and that work will continue."

@BBiso @scotlandscoeff1 And how do you suppose fans procure a private vehicle for each game they attend? Do you perhaps imagine the cost to hire one might go up a little bit?

The '530 page book of lies' also known as the '2026 World Cup Bid Document' stated that America would prioritise public transport over private vehicle use. Calling a stadium "Boston stadium" but the stadium is actually a totally inaccessible 25 miles away is like Scotland hosting a tournament at the "Glasgow Stadium" - when the game's actually at Rugby Park in Kilmarnock. To then quadruple the price of trains - which can only take 20,000 people - and charge $175 for a car parking space is an absolute abomination. There are only 5,000 car parking spots. Even if every car has 3 people in it, that still leaves nearly 30,000 fans attempting to get to the game by bus? This is going to be fucking carnage. Folk paying $1,000 for a ticket and missing the game is an absolute certainty. Tickets which by the way the 2026 bid book stated would range from $21-$323. At Euro 2028 there will be fans that get match tickets to ALL THREE of Scotland's group games, their train travel to every game, food and drink at all 3 games - and still have a good bit of change from the $175 car parking charge in "Boston".

Can someone explain why it's so important to know the names of the @ProFootballHOF selection committee members who didn't vote for Belichick. What's the difference? You going to egg their house? Troll them on X? They earned their vote. I just happen to disagree with them.

I started my career during the throes of the GFC crisis, working on CDOs / CLOs / RMBS / CMBS. This gave me one of my earliest mental models, which I light-heartedly call “everything is bond math” - the ability to see that most financial assets with streams of cash flows are simply bonds in disguise. It’s proved useful for me. Let me share a few observations: 🧵1/8:

I’m a doctor who has seen people die from vaccine-preventable diseases. What parents need to hear right now is vaccines for measles, polio, hepatitis B and other childhood diseases are safe and effective and will not cause autism. Any statement to the contrary is wrong, irresponsible, and actively makes Americans sicker. We need to understand the real causes of autism. Studies show there’s a genetic predisposition when a mom who’s pregnant is exposed to environmental toxins which can increase a child’s risk of autism. It’s deeply troubling that, according to HHS officials, they appeared to have canceled hundreds of millions in research on autism genetics. Redirecting attention to factors we definitely know DO NOT cause autism denies families the answers they deserve. We had two children die and many more hospitalized nationally from measles this year. Louisiana is experiencing its worst whooping cough outbreak in 35 years. Families are getting sick and people are dying from vaccine-preventable deaths, and that tragedy needs to stop.

@Realityhrts At current levels, if the 50 year is 50bp higher than the 30 year, it's ~10% decrease in monthly cost. So, expect ~10% increase in prices.

50-year term on a mortgage should be like a one-time credit impulse into the housing market. it should increase the present value of borrowing capacity – i.e. a permanently lower monthly payment per dollar of house. and sellers will price to that new capacity. so it's just going to be a "one-time" step change where we get higher housing prices. and, of course, buyers get a stretched amortization curve, with slower principal paydown. sellers get a mark-up in price. buyers will accumulate less equity over time. the whole system will have more leverage. 🫠
