I had the privilege of baptizing my son in the name of The Father, The Son, & The Holy Ghost I then confirmed him a member of our Lord and Savior’s restored Gospel and gave him the gift of the Holy Ghost via the laying on of hands through His Holy Priesthood A wonderful day and an important step in the covenant path to return to his Heavenly Father The Atonement is for everyone. The Book of Mormon literally says "Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy" (2 Nephi 2:25). Not happiness. Joy. And we don't do works to earn joy. We do them because we're disciples. James said "faith without works is dead" (James 2:20). Works aren't the source of joy. Christ is. Works are the evidence of faith. Your premise assumes we're chasing emotional highs through performance. That's not the doctrine. That's a misunderstanding of it.

Samuel the Lamanite's prophecies would make a stellar science-nonfiction film. 1. Tools, weapons, and treasures (i.e., "all things") would mysteriously "slip away" and be "taken" due to a "curse of the land." 2. The people would be surrounded by "demons" and encircled by Satan's "angels." 3. There would be "great lights" in the night sky so bright that it would "appear unto man as if it were day." 4. A "new star" would "arise." 5. There would be "many" other "signs and wonders" in sky. 6. The people would be so shocked with "amaze[ment] and wonder" that they would "fall to the earth."

@joshnaa2gez Had these same thoughts yesterday about the lack of a Priesthood session and a lost tradition that was wholesome and terrific.

I lament this every conference, but I will say it again… It makes me sad that I’m not getting my son ready for Priesthood Session and ice cream afterwards with the guys. Those were pivotal moments in my life. I can’t recreate that for him. Most men aren’t going to leave their families for something like that unless it’s official. It will never be the same unless they bring Priesthood Session back.

@joshnaa2gez Don't you know, Josh, that you only have to worry about being too religious? There's no equivalent worry about being too secular. Lots of people labeled as a religious nut, and they surely exist. Never heard of someone labeled as a secular nut even though they also surely exist.

They like to find examples of atrocities committed in the name of religion to demonstrate how religion is very very bad. But they don’t like to quantify how many atrocities are regularly committed by people who have become nihilistic in the wake of secular, atomistic relativism.
