‼️ Chelsea feared his head had been turned by the prospect of potentially replacing Pep Guardiola at the end of this season. It coincided with Maresca changing representatives during this campaign, teaming up with the super agent Jorge Mendes. ~ @kierangill_DM

🚨Maresca had several confrontations with the club due to disagreements over which players should start and which substitutions should be made during games with Maresca not the type of coach to accept on-pitch decisions that are out of his control. Chelsea's position is their model won't change and that all input over selection was exclusively related to player workload and welfare and came from the medical department not the board. However, Maresca felt issues at the club ran far deeper and extended to other departments. He also felt pressure from above to rotate and ultimately raise the value for several young players. 🚨 Carabao Cup success is not a priority for Chelsea. If they win it great, if they get knocked out by Arsenal, it's not the end of the world" (@SkyKaveh via @CFCDaily)

🚨It is claimed Maresca informed Chelsea that he spoke to representatives of both Juventus & City. Sources say CFC were informed he would stop all talks regarding other clubs if he was handed a new, improved contract but Chelsea rejected the proposal out of hand. [@Matt_Law_DT]

Club statement: Enzo Maresca.

How do you fix Chelsea? Get Boehly backed takeover to oust Eghbali and his cronies. Get a real adult in as Director of Football and check the SDs egos - maybe sack Shields too. Then you talk about the manager and any transfers

🚨 Exclusive: Enzo Maresca was not sick post Bournemouth. Understand he chose not to attend the post-match press conference because he is in the middle of making a decision as he considers his options at the club. Understand Maresca continues to be frustrated by aspects of the Chelsea project affecting his independence to make decisions and strategic elements don’t always align with how he wants to manage the team. This led to his post-Everton comments, which had been brewing for some time. Maresca had said publicly he loves Chelsea as a club and its fanbase and relishes the pressure of delivering results, but my understanding is he is struggling to work within certain conditions. Behdad Eghbali tells @Sportico Chelsea was "not terribly well managed on the football, sporting or promotional side" under Roman Abramovich. As previously reported, new owners were surprised by the lack of data they inherited and the 'disconnected' internal structure of the club.
