It was 9am yesterday Morning training group was warming up One of our staff members was vacuuming the throwing lane We don't have 78 coaches and 5 janitors Our coaches handle the vacuuming No egos here, we all have chores, we all do our part I stepped out onto the floor noting a scent of pine And I noticed the radar gun display lit up 132 mph I stopped That's the Stalker II Pro, by the way The gold standard The exact gun every professional scout uses to measure, evaluate, and decide the future of pitchers all over the world It just clocked a vacuum cleaner at 132 mph I stood there for a second One data point doesn't tell the whole story Never has Never will Somewhere right now a 17-year-old is being told what he is based on one number from one gun on one day That number does not define him One person's opinion is not a verdict We've seen too many kids prove that to believe otherwise Come find out what you actually are 866-STRIKE3 · floridabaseballarmory.com

One of the most misunderstood cues in hitting is "stay back." Too often, hitters interpret that as hanging on the backside, when in reality an effective swing still requires a forward move. That move creates linear direction before rotation and helps the body work downhill and sets the swing up to level out through contact. When hitters overly prioritize staying back without moving forward, they often lose adjustability out front and produce higher attack angles that create holes in the swing. The key is separation: the lower half can move forward while the shoulders and hands remain back. That is what truly allows a hitter to move forward as much as they want and maintain adjustability with their upper half. This applies even more when hitters are fooled by offspeed and get caught too forward. The upper half saves them. Separation saves them.
Curt Nelson@Nelson_Hitting

Staying back is a feel, not a reality. A huge majority of the best are making minimal back moves with a positive move to a relatively balanced hitting position.

Team USA vs. Dominican Republic. Paul Skenes vs. Plátano Power. Sunday, 8 p.m. ET, in Miami. Winner advances to the World Baseball Classic finals. It’s happening. And baseball doesn’t get a whole lot better than that.

Imagine that, he’s not focused on how hard he’s throwing … The greatest are simply focused on the job at hand. In this case, it’s his execution of what and why. VELO IS NOT A PITCHER’S JOB. Many love to argue this and will until they’re blue in the face. I’d put the pitchers I work with up against your “velo” guys any day. My pitchers are healthy, confident, consistent and healthy. Yes, I realize I said healthy twice. The best pitcher is always the healthy one. When they’re constantly pounded about velo, they will not and can not stay healthy. The ones who want to argue this the most have never put a ball down range in their life! STFU

Greg Maddux was so smart he didn’t even need a catcher to call pitches. He had his own secret system, called every pitch himself, and no one noticed. Absolute mastermind stuff — this is the kind of baseball IQ you don’t see anymore.

Here’s Gunnar Henderson 8 years ago in 2018 when I was an intern at East Coast Pro. He hit just as good as Riley Greene at that event which impressed everyone.
