"Intifada" is the Arabic word for "uprising"; Arabic language discussions of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising use the term "intifada" in discussing it. In both cases what was happening was armed resistance to colonial oppressors (or in the case of the first Palestinian intifada, largely unarmed resistance).
