📢✨ New Issue Alert – Science Diplomacy ✨📢 Science diplomacy is no longer optional—it is becoming a strategic necessity. The January–March 2026 issue of the Science Diplomacy digest by @CSIR_NIScPR , @CSIR_IND, captures this transformation, as global science cooperation navigates geopolitical fragmentation, technological acceleration, and emerging security concerns. The issue situates itself within key global developments, including #RaisinaDialogue2026, where the Science & Diplomacy Initiative (SDI) was introduced, signaling a shift towards embedding science more firmly within strategic and foreign policy frameworks. The opening contribution by the GESDA - Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator team and perspectives from Prof. Tateo Arimoto, Senior Advisor to the President of Japan Science and Technology Agency —a contributor to the initiative—provide important insights into this evolving landscape. Bringing together voices such as Marga Gual Soler, PhD, Clara R. Solé , Sanjay Bhattacharyya , and S.K. Varshney , the issue examines critical themes at the intersection of science, technology, and geopolitics. Notably, it underscores India’s rising leadership in science diplomacy, particularly as a key actor representing and advancing the interests of the Global South in shaping equitable and forward-looking global science governance. A key takeaway: 👉 The future of global cooperation will depend on how effectively we align science, policy, and diplomacy. 📖 Read the full issue here: nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/1234567… @DrJitendraSingh | @GVRayasam | @margagual | @AmbSanjay_ | @skvdst | @JoannaWis | @JindalGlobalUNI | @GESDAglobal | @ICMCSIC | @BayalNitin | @TheNaikMic | @Sinha_Sneha7 | @MonikaJaggi3 #ScienceDiplomacy #GlobalGovernance #STI #FutureOfScience #India #GlobalSouth

India invented chess. Invented Yoga. They even thought us how to count. Einstein said we owe a lot to the Indians. There is even a golden temple in India that feeds 100,000 people a day for FREE! Man, the Indians are fucking awesome! If you are Indian, I say thank you ❤️ 🇮🇳

Received a cool gift today from @BosePratap The Ambassador will never fade from the memories of someone of my vintage. What an old warhorse it was. An inextricable part of the old Indian landscape. So it deserves to be immortalised through such scale models. And kudos to Vishal Bendre of scalearts.in who imports them from Bangladesh rather than China! So why aren’t we getting models built of some @Mahindra_Auto brands, Pratap??!

Maximilian Siebert @Stanford presenting his poster about embargoes in data sharing of clinical trials in top medical journals. One third had not lifted embargo. And those that had lifted embargo did often not want to share ☹️ #WCRI2024

Did you know? Fish skin has shown anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that support and improve healing in a variety of wounds including burns and diabetic foot ulcers. Ongoing research is exploring this vs alternative techniques.

It is no secret there exists a generalizability problem in AI for biology.  Despite all the advances in ML methods, the way we evaluate generalizability in ML models has not changed. How well does your ML model generalize across the entire spectrum of possible dataset splits? [1/9]

Next monday is 4 hours of preliminary grant reviews - a necessary but intense part of being a scientist who goes through peer review is being the reviewer. As ever, I am rather amazed by scientists who make simple mistakes in their proposals. My thoughts for a good proposal:
