I’m 46 and have worked in DC for 26 years. During that time, I’ve met and befriended many women in high-level careers. Not one has ever told me she chose her career over marriage. In fact, all of them were trying to find a husband.
The idea that Millennial or Gen X women broadly chose careers over marriage—at least anecdotally—just isn’t true.

@thechosenberg I’ve met parents who charged their adult children a small amount of rent and put it in a savings account for them to have a little nest egg when they move out. That’s a nice way to keep people accountable. But it’s totally fair if a parent needs to cover the higher bills.

@Beantea_B @marlo_safi The best way is to connect with other homeschoolers and join a coop, maybe at your church, and they can lead you to a good curriculum and familiarize you with any requirements like testing etc in your state. You’ll do shared instruction on specialized subjects like languages etc.

@marlo_safi People have to weigh a better educational outcome and more family time against more money. Most people choose money in part bc they think it will provide advantages for the family and in part bc they want nice things. Some women also want the esteem that may come from paid work.
