It was an honour to be invited by Prime Minister Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, to discuss solutions to the crisis in Heart, Kidney and Metabolic disorders in Mauritius. We discussed enhanced prevention strategies, system improvement with digitisation in Mauritius and the role culture and advertising play in the health of the population. Mauritius already has a sugar tax to disincentivise sugar consumption. Thanks to the Mauritian ministry of Health and Wellbeing and Dr. Nishant Nundlall for the invitation to the International Scientific Advisory Committee. I’m a long way from @NBMLHD and @penrith where thanks to support from NSW office of health and medical research @NSWHealth, we started studying the impact of cardiometabolic disease throughout the lifespan in 2020. Very much like an economy which prints more money so each dollar has less value. More journals= more publications = more citations. What is the solution ?
