@EpiViro That was aimed at the casuals who watched, keep your sarcasm to yourself.

Before anyone asks, yes I watched Rousey-Carano and that was textbook Ronda Rousey. Immediately shoot for a takedown and go for the arm. Some amateur wrestling technique, but that was Judo 101. Unless you avoid a takedown, she's going for the arm. If she gets it, it's over. It's no accident that with the exception of her two losses in the UFC that were knockouts, virtually all of her fights end the same way. Get the arm lock it where the opponent has one choice either submit or have their arm snapped. Unless Carano was able to land a punch or a kick and avoid the shot (Shooting for a takedown) this was the logical conclusion. Some will complain, but Rousey made a career out of ending fights just as she did tonight and just as quickly. Carano had no choice, but to submit, Rousey had her arm hyper extended too quickly and there wasn't an escape. Just wanted to give my thoughts before the conspiracy theories begin. #RouseyCarano #MVPMMA1 #Netflix

I would take it a step further, make sure the venue whether it be indoor or outdoor is accessible. Tropicana Field in particular is a nice venue, but if you are physically disabled, not the most accessible venue. In fairness, the last two times I was there in 2024 for the Royal Rumble and for a Rays-Mets game, it was a much more comfortable experience for me than has been the case in decades, but only after significant time and communication stretching several months with the Tampa Bay Rays. One difference for the WWE event was they had a section strictly devoted for ADA accessible to wait in line. I need a wheelchair now when I go to stadiums so thank God I was able to sit in that line for two hours, but I and my family were at the stadium at noon that day because ADA parking was first come, first serve, so it ended up being close to a fifteen hour day for us by the time we got home. Given that I live 15 minutes from the stadium minus traffic, I would have preferred to go a little later than to literally be the first ones there and have to sit in the parking lot for five hours before being allowed to get in line. Come to find out when we went to the game four months later, all the ADA lines that were there for the WWE event were removed and it was WWE that put those lines where they were, not the Rays. It was nevertheless a more pleasant experience going to that game as I went from the parking lot in wheelchair to my seat in a little under 15 minutes, but again after a lot of back and forth communication and having to pay extra for a parking pass to make sure we were as close to the stadium as possible. This is why in addition to affordability, which is now more of an issue for me as a sole homeowner and the majority of my family no longer with us, in addition to having to deal with inconsiderate and often rude people that I usually avoid going out even though I have paid a price when it comes to my social life. People shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to be able to go out. It's sad. #DisabilityAwareness #CerebralPalsy

Just saw the tribute to Ricky Hatton at #BKB54. Sometimes things just hit you unexpectedly. This was one of those times for me. Class. Could only imagine how Hatton would have done under the modernized Bareknuckle rules. Was always one of my favorite fighters to cover. #BKB #BareknuckleBoxing

Completed one writing session and piece for next week before fight time today. Hasn't happened much in recent times as I usually find myself breaking things into multiple sessions, but I'll take the win. On to what happens today... #TheBoxingTruth #Boxing

While one should always appreciate fandom as it is the lifeblood of the sport, I'm with Mr. @AlBernstein. I will take it a step further. I would feel safe betting money I do not have that if you put most top fighters today and put them against any of the Fab 4 in their primes under the conditions they fought under, (Much more frequently active than most top fighters today, 15 round world title fights) the fab 4 would win at least 90% of those fights. I admit I grew up on and have a soft spot for the Fab 4 and got to cover three of the four in my early days as a writer though I wish I didn't cover Camacho-Leonard, and by no means am I disrespecting any fighter currently in the sport, but it's a case of different eras and though the sport has made strides in terms of safety and pay for fighters, the Fab 4 and top fighters from eras that predated thep Fab 4 were a different breed and fought more frequently than fighters today. There is no comparison and it's irresponsible to suggest any current fighter could be added to the Fab 4. Unless we see a return of 15 round fights, something I've been screaming for, and top fighters competing more frequently, including in non-title fights in between title defenses, there is no comparison. I simply regret not being around and old enough to have covered the Fab 4 when they were in their primes. I always enjoyed covering Duran and Hearns, Camacho-Leonard, however, was my version of Holmes-Ali in some ways. Was in my early days as a writer covering the sport, barely a teenager at the time, almost two years after I initially started writing. Was a sad night for me, but thankfully for Leonard, that fight was stopped sooner than Holmes-Ali was. Not fun watching someone you grew up on taking a beating, but great fighters usually go out in a similar way. Sugar Ray Leonard was a great fighter as was Hector Camacho, but if they had fought earlier in their careers, Leonard probably wins that fight. #Boxing
Al Bernstein@AlBernstein

Davis fights in weight classes that are below three of the Four Kings. Only Duran early in his career was in his weight class--making this an even more absurd post. Suggesting that Davis could beat Tommy Hearns is perhaps the most absurd thing I have seen on this platform--which is saying a lot.

I am not certain on statistics if there are any, but I deal with this daily. In present context, I deal with a very bad leg and knee that pushes out. (Consequences of not doing what I should have done when I was younger, which is on me.) When my leg locks up or gives out because of my knee, all my body weight will drop to that side and it feels like I'm having to drag my weight behind me.  I'm not sure what season it aired, it's one of my favorite episodes, but I have compared it to the stonecutter episode of the Simpsons, where they attach a stone of shame, then the stone of triumph around the neck of a naked Homer Simpson and make him drag it behind him. This is essentially what it feels like when my leg gives out and it causes me to huff and puff where sometimes people will think I'm having problems, but it's because of dragging my body weight and it takes me a few minutes to get my wind after I sit down.  Everyone's circumstances are different and I've always walked a little slower than “Normal” people, but that's one reason why I would get angry when I would see those who are fortunate to be able bodied who would make light or at times outright make fun of me because I was a little slower and had/have to do some things differently. The reality is disabled people, like myself, are no less “Normal” than anyone else and I hope there's more understanding of what someone deals with on a daily basis. Conversation and dialogue will always be a better approach to assuming one understands what someone might be dealing with, which is difficult to really understand if you haven't been in that person's shoes, and that's okay, but conversation in order to understand will always be better. It costs nothing to treat someone with dignity and respect. I am as normal as anyone else, I just happen to have a disability. It's been that way all my life. The difference now compared to my younger days is I no longer feel like I need to prove I'm just as “Normal” as anyone else. Those who know me, know that already, those who want to get to know me, I'm always open for a conversation, those who don't, it's their loss. Period. #DisabilityAwareness #CerebralPalsy

I've never been under contract to any outlet I've written for in years past with the exception of a content exclusivity agreement, which meant I would be prohibited from being able to shop a piece I'd written around if said outlet passed on it without their approval. I did spend close to 7 years writing for #TheFist out of Australia and a few years for #BoxingWorld as well. With The Fist, I went through three separate publishers during my time and the final publisher ran one issue and went out of business without notice. It was something I took hard because it was one of my breaks when I broke into magazines that I'll always appreciate. I also know what it's like to write on the promise of getting paid and having the "Valuable Exposure" line thrown at me whenever the subject of compensation was discussed. I personally do not know anyone who was let go by Boxing Scene, but my heart goes out to them. It's not a good feeling when a publication/outlet parts ways with you for whatever reason and I've been there a few times. It's one reason among several why I decided to go on my own. If I was going to put all the time and effort into covering the sport I love, if I wasn't going to be compensated for my work, I would much rather spend my time building my own platform. It's better than being taken advantage of and there is no excuse for that. Hope those who were let go by Boxing Scene land on their feet. From one writer/journalist/historian to others in the industry, keep your heads up. Hang in there. #Boxing #Writing

Terrible what happened with BoxingScene laying off a slew of quality writers and editors today. Good luck to all of you, including @EricRaskin, @JasonLangendorf, @fightingwords2, @TrisDixon and @MattCBoxingNews, @ryansongalia. #boxing

Happy Birthday up above to a man I consider my idol. I had many infouences when it came to my eventful involvement in #Boxing as a writer and occasional expert on radio many years ago, but this was the man who inspired me most. Not so much in terms of Boxing obviously, but the way he would break down subjects and get his points across. This man was the master. There will never be another #GeorgeCarlin. Much to my mom's dismay, I remember sneaking into my parents room when I was little and my dad had one of his stand up specials on. I remember sneaking under the bed and using the blankets to hide. Though obviously not for children and this was before the Bill & Ted movies in the 1980's/early 1990's, I became a fan instantly, to the point that whenever he had an HBO special, my father, much as was the case with combat sports knew it was pointless to try and prevent me from watching. My mom probably never forgave him for that. I consider it my real education in a lot of ways. One thing I will always be thankful for even though it came at a bad time for my family, I did get to see Carlin perform live in December 2006 and had my father with me that night. I obviously didn't know then that Carlin wouldn't be with us much longer, so I'm grateful that even as my grandfather was dying in the hospital and would leave us a few days later, I got to see Carlin perform live and I teared up as he came on stage. It's too long to get into here, but the short version was my grandfather was rushed to the hospital that night and told me to go see your idol, I'll be alright. I had bought tickets a few months in advance and I wasn't going to go because of my grandfather's situation, but I guess worrying about him and seeing someone live finally after wanting to go see him for years got to me. A story I'm saving the bulk of for when I decide it's time to sit and write my story. I still listen to his albums and watch his old stand up specials to this day. I also still have the tickets from the night my father and I saw him. One of my favorite memories during a bad time that I think of more now because most of my family including my parents and grandparents have passed on.
