2022: “Stop overreacting, they won’t overturn Roe.”
They did.
2023: “Stop overreacting, they won’t let women die rather than get an abortion.”
They did.
2024: “Stop overreacting, they won’t arrest women for miscarriages.”
They did.
2025: “Stop overreacting, they won’t turn women into incubators.”
They did.
2026: “Stop overreacting, they won’t attack mifepristone.”
They did, today.
Now: “Stop overreacting, they won’t go after birth control next.”
They will.

@ModerateDemocr1 Dr.Au supports Duncan for Gov as she believes he has the pull for moderate GOP and can win. It’s a tough pill to swallow but she has a point.

@insidegapol @ModerateDemocr1 Irresponsible political rhetoric is a mouthful coming from someone who supports a pathetic bully who calls everyone names and threatens ppl on social media.

@ModerateDemocr1 What a slate of leftists and loons. Have they all called for a ceasefire in the irresponsible political rhetoric of their party that now favors violence rather than debate?

Georgia Democrats are aggressively campaigning to unseat two sitting Supreme Court justices, a marked escalation in officially nonpartisan races long treated as sleepy, low-profile contests. #gapol

@GaryChambersJr I'm sorry you had to sit in that room and be disrespected by an idiot who never learned to chew with his mouth closed.

Look at their faces. What do you see?
I wanted to look them in the eye and say, on the record, that they are attempting to reconstruct this government to undo Black progress. Their targeting of @calvin4clerk is rooted in that reality, and it needed to be called out plainly.
I showed up speaking for myself. No organization in Louisiana sent me. No party asked me to come. I say that to make clear much of this work is being done independently, without formal partnerships, and without the budgets, staff, or institutional backing many established organizations have.
I came because what they are doing is wrong. The court reconstruction happening in New Orleans has been done in different ways already in Baton Rouge and across this state—especially in the largest, Blackest cities—to dilute Black political power.
I started Civics for the People because I know many of us don’t know what is happening inside government or how these systems are used. It’s my way of teaching the game and helping our people move with knowledge.
Their elections are in 2027. We can send them home to frown and chew grass much gum as they please.
If you believe this work matters, support Civics for the People at the link in my bio so I can teach the people and send some on these people home.

@AuforGA @GeoffDuncanGA Thank you for the thoughtful response and I will give it careful consideration. I hope you enjoy this weekend too!

Becca, I understand and respect your opinion, and I think it asks us to examine what it is at heart that makes someone a Democrat, or a Republican.
Is it simply a label, or a brand, or something akin to a team affiliation?
Or is it more about the values we share, the issues we prioritize, and the work we want to do? I think it should be the latter.
Further, I think that persuasion with the hope that people can evolve in their views is the work of politics. We should WANT people to grow, and change, and join us in the work. We need them to.
I frankly would be happy to see even more Republicans switch parties, and growing our coalition and number with like-minded people who share the same values is an important part of how we win in a state like Georgia.
As for the other question of "why," I think I answered in the above post, which, granted, is long. 😉 And the fact is that *I* trust him, which is why I endorsed him. I trust him, I trust his values, and I think he will win.
Appreciate the conversation. Have a good weekend!

I was honored yesterday to participate in this roundtable on women’s healthcare with these brilliant subject matter experts, moderated by @GeoffDuncanGA.
One question Geoff asked me was whether, during my time at the Capitol, the culture around the six week abortion ban and Medicaid Expansion has evolved in the Georgia legislature.
My answer was:
Publicly, no.
Privately, absolutely.
Because our state’s approach to both issues has been a disaster.
The six-week abortion ban, originally passed pre-Dobbs, has wreaked incalculable harm. It harms patients and it harms those who have taken an oath to care for them.
It creates a culture of fear and doubt, and it exacerbates our healthcare manpower shortage, particularly of Ob-Gyns, because medical trainees rightly do not want to choose to set up a practice in a state that criminalizes the care they have been trained to provide.
Republican lawmakers know this. They can see that this was a mistake. But NOT ONE of them is willing to admit that, and NOT ONE of them will publicly vow to fix it by repealing Georgia’s six week abortion ban.
If they would, I would absolutely be willing to work with them, or anyone willing to do what it takes. I would be delighted that they want to be part of the solution. To undo this harm, we need more people, regardless of party, to stand up and prioritize people over politics.
It takes insight to recognize that you were wrong, it takes guts to admit it out loud, and it takes character to say, “But now I’m going to help make things right.” Our Republican colleagues are all too afraid to do so. This is unacceptable.
But I’m less interested in what has already happened than in what we can do now, moving forward, and in building a team that can make this happen.
At this point it’s clear that, no matter what gains we make in the legislature, no matter how many seats we’re able to flip in November, we cannot get this job done without a Democratic governor at the helm.
All the things we as Democrats care about, all the things we fight for, these core Democratic priorities, particularly with respect to healthcare access, abortion care, and gun safety—none of that will get done if we can’t put forth the first Democrat in nearly 30 years who will win in November.
As Democrats, we pride ourselves with building a big tent, and being accepting of people from all corners of the state, from diverse background, and with different views undergirded by the same core values.
That is the beauty of our coalition. As we say, “our diversity is our strength.”
Among my top priorities is repealing Georgia’s six week abortion ban and finally expanding Medicaid in this state. We can’t do any of that if we don’t win.
That’s why I’m supporting Geoff.

@SenatorWarnock @MCEA1969 Democrats have put forth several bills to separate ICE funding from TSA and FEMA. The republicans have blocked them. The SAVE act would disenfranchise millions of registered voters. But that’s what trump wants ahead of the midterms where he can expect a shellacking.
