@shanepower21 IMO - this is a product of the era we’re in. Guys aren’t together for years. Cultures aren’t instilled into all. So, when things start going poorly & everybody isn’t happy, it can go even further south than it would have pre-2022. Quickly. It can be fixed quickly, fortunately.

@sixpackspeak Game on the line in SEC Tourney, and we lose that stretch 20-5. Bad, again. The more concerning thing is this happens consistently. When happens over & over we have to question things.

It was 59-56 and we close it out by scoring 5 points. Auburn scored 20.

I’d look at our HC Salary (Top20 & more than Tang), inquire about the $ we’ve spent on rosters the last few years (upper 1/2 of SEC), & ask around about best home courts in SEC.

What’s you guys opinion of the new @SouthwestAir seating policy? I see @TomiLahren teeing off on it. So far the biggest issue I’ve seen is it feels like boarding takes much longer. When people didn’t have assigned seats it felt like there was more urgency. You guys?

@sixpackspeak Now.. How is all of that possible? Because just as you can turn things around quickly with NIL / portal - you can also have an off year with 1 or 2 important mis-evaluations & maybe an unexpected late transfer (Key). There’s some changes that need to be made. HC is not one.

@sixpackspeak Additionally, let’s take a look at Dennis Gates & MIZ. I’m a big Dennis Gates fan - love how he carries himself. Year 1 - He has a lot of success. Makes R32. Year 2 - They go 0-18(!) in the SEC. Almost impossible, actually. AD doesn’t overreact. Year 3 - 6 seed in NCAAT.

Mississippi State basketball thoughts The expectations I have for Mississippi State basketball is to make the tournament almost every season. Any wins we have in the tournament are gravy. Mississippi State basketball has made the tournament 14 times in it's history. Chris Jans owns 3 of them. Mississippi State basketball has made the tournament 3 straight seasons twice in their history. Rick Stansbury did it 2002-2005 (looking at you @shanepower21). The other coach who did it is Chris Jans. This season sucks. Today sucked even more. Complete lack of effort from all involved. And the fact the players are getting paid to do this makes it even worse. I don't think we will get out of the funk this season. But you don't fire a coach after one bad season. If we don't make the tourney in 26-27, then you do what you need to do. You have to give him a chance to correct it or you might end up where we were in 2012. State's name was trash in the coaching circle and that's how we ended up with a career assistant coach from a program that was historically worse than Mississippi State. The other caveat to all of this is NIL. We are a limited program as it comes to $$ relative to the rest of the conference. Football is where our bread is buttered and we have chosen to invest in baseball because it such an important sport to our university. Do we spend money on a buyout in basketball? Even with NIL and a buyout taken into consideration, you should never fire a coach who owns the best first 3 seasons in the history of our program after having one bad season. In today's environment, I think you give Jans another season to right the ship.
