English

@ryanmouquegolf Super helpful - thank you! Could you do a side by side video showing early extension vs "correct"?

@EliteGolfDad @CallawayGolf Love it. Let me know if/when you make it to Denver.

I played very little golf this year. I went to the course solo on about half of my rounds and got paired up. I enjoyed every one of those rounds. The new people I played with:
65 year old man who CRUSHED the ball.
Woman my age with a bag of 14 shiny new @CallawayGolf clubs who was an absolute delight.
Two younger women who could hit every shot in the bag.
A longtime Twitter follow who is one of my favorite people to play golf with now.
Two guys my age who made me laugh for 18 holes straight.
A 17 year old kid playing his 5th round of golf ever who asked exactly the right questions about the game.
I used to HATE getting paired up. At the very young age of 40, though, I’m realizing more and more that I need to break out of my introvert shell and embrace new people. I had zero bad experiences with new people this year. I found a handful of people at my club I really enjoy playing golf with. I felt zero judgment when I played short of my standards. I laughed a lot.
Playing solo is still nice once in a while, but for the first time in my life I’m truly enjoying the company of new people.
Here’s to meeting more of you in ‘25 and beyond. If you’re ever in Omaha, let’s play. And if I come to your town, be ready to tee it up. I can’t wait to meet you.
English

@ChasingMemes0 @chasingscratch0 Will they get there? Absolutely - eventually. But fear not; that is when the Real quest begins. How long can two guys in their late 40s, with exceptionally cool wives, (drama filled ternage) kids, jobs, and body ailments Du Jour STAY at scratch? The best is yet to come.

@acaseofthegolf1 Aside from the altitude, it is also 100+ degrees here today (supposedly makes ball fly further). Fairways and greens are dry and hard as well. So, ya, balls are movin’!!

@practicalgolf Love the foundational concept (see what I did there?), but would humbly/strenuously suggest NOT using “weekend” in the brand title. It adds a label that isn’t needed. The mantra applies to every golfer; it is a mindset.
English

I love to experiment and build things in my business. I'm exploring launching a new brand around my philosophy on golf.
Thinking about calling it Weekend Mantra
As many of you know, my goal has always been to help others (and myself) enjoy the game more while lowering their scores. That all starts with expectation management.
The idea for this brand comes from this tweet I have sent out every weekend for the past few years:
I always get such a great response, and people genuinely need the reminder.
Every golfer knows what it feels like to work all week and look forward to their Saturday morning tee time.
We fantasize about how we'll play, and therein lies the issue. How can we balance our excitement to play well but still make sure we enjoy the experience no matter what?
My idea is to create a series of products that embody these habits and beliefs. They would have reminders and "mantras" on them so you can make sure you are holding yourself accountable to them.
We all know how hard that is to do at times!
Here is a quick mockup I did for the first versions of products. It combines my logo with some of the sayings in the tweet (which will likely be changed a bit).
I am working on creating a golf glove with this badge. My idea is to offer a high-quality golf glove you can subscribe to at a reasonable price. If you sign up, you'll also get access to educational materials from me to help you manage your expectations. So, instead of buying a glove from a big golf OEM, you can get some extra benefits and support my business 😀
I'm also exploring having some cool ball markers made with this concept, and even others I have, like "fighting the war on double bogeys."
I have many ideas that could expand to other products and eventually some community. However, I've learned many lessons from running an online business for a decade, and I will try to start small and execute a few ideas first to see how it goes.
I'll try to share what I'm doing along the way and build in public a bit because I know some of you are fascinated about seeing how these things come to life.
If you have ideas or feedback, my DMs are open (famous last words 💀🤣)
Stay tuned!

@BitsofBurke @caddietales Mark is an amazing follow; welcome to some great stuff. Get his book for even better reflections on life. (And no, I’m not sponsored or comped for that; just a fan of his genuine, real life insight)
English

@caddietales What a good story to come across my feed. New follower.
English

Caddied for a dad and his 12 year old son today.
Every now and then I'd catch a moment of the son going and giving his dad a hug. It was genuine and heartfelt. Dad wasn't feeling well, but he grinded through for the sake of his excited youngster.
The young man was polite, engaging, and appreciative, on top of hitting the ball pretty well. Dad was proud. The son was beaming.
Can't help but think about how different my life would've gone if I would've had these kinds of opportunities growing up (and I'm not simply speaking about expensive golf opportunities). I'm thankful to forge a different and special relationship with my own 12 year old son, and I pray he'll bear the fruit of it throughout his life.
I was able to be smack dab in the middle of something special today. Quality time between father and son is a beautiful thing to witness! Glad I had the chance.

@SandstoneStox Sounds like you are self employed/retired? Do you have an LLC that is some type of an operating biz? The biz can pay the premiums as an op exp. Find an HSA plan, and fund the max amt. Doesnt lower premiums, but helps on taxable income.

Friends
I’m angry 😡
I need your advice
I just got notice effective Oct 1 my health insurance goes up to $2,930/mo !😬
Originally $2,135/month
Can I afford it?
Yes
But I simply can not conceivably comprehend paying near $3k/mo for health insurance
It’s INSANE!
Can ANYONE point me in the right direction
✅I’m too young for Medicare
✅I make too much for Obamacare
✅My wife works for a non-profit so they don’t offer nothing too spectacular for a family plan
I appreciate it

@RebootedAmerica @tyromper Dr., you are a Beautiful, Precious, Loved Child of God. Don’t ever forget that.
English

@tyromper You just might be who God sent me. I needed to read your story tonight. Thank you for sharing.
English

Within a few minutes I had a reply.
This is @EddieLowen he is the lead pastor at a 6,000 person church!
Why don’t we meet for coffee and talk the next time you’re in town he offered.
Over the next few months I would drive a few hours back to my hometown to grab lunch or coffee with Eddie.

@zackr2 @chasingscratch0 Welcome to your new world, where you will now look at polar bears, sharks, birds, Carl Weathers, your diet and so much more through a whole different - and better - lens. Don’t skip ahead; enjoy the process of catching up!
English

So I recently started listening to @chasingscratch0 and today I’m on a plane listening to season 4 episode 1.
For those unaware of the podcast, this episode has me laughing hysterically about falconry and the Cincinnati Zoo. Gotta be the Polar Bear in 6 feet of water.
English

@hill_zephyr @zackr2 @chasingscratch0 I don’t have any sleek memes for you, but agree completely: do NOT skip ahead. Soak it all in, in order.

@molzer It’s Raindance National, in Windsor CO (about an hour north of Denver). Elevation is probably around 4700-5000 feet. The “Tour” tees aren’t always open. It is more marketing than anything

English

@ThinkAppraiser As others have said, “market value” is what an independent buyer will pay. Don’t overthink it - for who ever is paying that $700K extra, it is a good deal to them. Simple as that.
English

@ThinkAppraiser You are over-simplifying this. “Market value” changes weekly, if not daily. Appraisers use comps from the past 3+ months (depending on location, etc). You adjust for time, but that doesn’t include factors like int. rate changes, stock mkt, etc…..
English

@ThinkAppraiser @taxdoctor1 Yep, and then this sale, which you thought was not justifiable based on backward looking comps, becomes the new comp that sets the price for the next one.
English

@taxdoctor1 A lot of times they won’t appraise, but everybody knows that and they just bring in the extra cash to close
English

@benfitterman @pnjaban Typically need at least 2 other employees that aren’t related to biz owner to get any type of group rate, at least in CO. So depends on what type of biz you are doing.
English

@pnjaban I randomly stumbled across this option last week. This one seems good
English

@Cakalacman @TheMasters Actually, do your house hunting this wknd (with the AirPod in) - if you are in a competitive market, there will be less competition on the new listings, as many guys won’t leave the couch. You’ll “save” even more money than you did on the clubs!
English

I’m committed boys. You can’t let finding your future home keep you from @TheMasters. Good thing she doesn’t know much about golf. I told her my new clubs I’m getting on Wednesday were only $300.
