Tyler Mumford - The Stump Guy
Just this week, I have landed 7 jobs from my truck and trailer wrap. - 5 from neighbors seeing me while I was on their street. - 2 from people driving next to me. (This was an outlier week, but I usually get at least 1 job a week from them.) These wraps have paid for themselves 3-5x over in less than a year.

@bradncpa Still fail to see how this is bad.. "lose" $50k by buying a piece of equipment or lose $200k by giving it to the government.. ???

A client spent $500,000 to avoid paying $200,000 in tax. He bought a loader his business could use. But he bought it to depreciate it. So it sat in a field. Unused. I advised against it. He did it anyway. Bonus depreciation and Section 179 exist for a reason. But the deduction is supposed to follow the business need. Not replace it. If you wouldn't buy it without the tax benefit, the tax benefit isn't a good enough reason to buy it. Zeroing out your tax bill by burning cash on equipment you never touch is a terrible way to build wealth. All that does is move money from your bank account to a field. Spending a dollar to save forty cents is a bad strategy and never worth it.

If you’re running a home service business in a market like Dallas you’re playing in the Harvard of home services -Everything is more competitive -Everything is more expensive -And customer acquisition is not cheap I was on a call with a construction company that said they won’t spend more than $800 per booked job Then told me their close rate is 12% Do the math: That’s over $6k to acquire a customer in that market! Then they tell me every marketing company they’ve worked with sucks..... In smaller markets you can acquire customers for $800 with a 30% close rate and MAKE MONEY In Dallas you need to be built to handle high acquisition costs or you won’t survive if you want to do internet marketing Where you choose to play matters way more than people think Some markets require way more skill and way more capital just to stay in the game.... thank you PE

@indexnforgetit A financially responsible person will know the expenses going in. There are also people who forego some outside entertainment to enjoy more time at home and can allocate what other people have in their budget for that towards their home/maintenance.

Thanks for the DM man. Awesome to hear you’re just starting out with your agency and that you’ve been following me for awhile. Glad to hear you love my content and are getting value from it. I’m definitely down to hop on a call and ‘compare notes’. I guess since you’re just starting you don’t have any notes to share really? So I’ll just share my notes with you then. In fact why don’t I just send everything to you before the call. I’ll get everything I know over to you. That way you can read them before and come with questions. I can just tell you everything I know

@ChinosmithJesse @Joe_brendan_ I can promise you the large majority of Americans are working to survive and pay bills. America is expensive and consumer debt driven

@Joe_brendan_ That line "they're not working from a place of struggling to pay bills...." I'm just wondering, could this be the reason our work ethic is not like their even though the hustle and hard work mentality is deeply intertwined with our culture?

I have worked with Americans. They are bloody I almost suspected if they were on something. I laugh at Nigerians who think they work hard. Work with Americans you will question your strength. They are not working from a place of struggling to pay bills, they are working from a place of passion. they are trying to impress themselves. Its not a mistake that they are leading the AI race with updates from Anthropic & OpenAI dropping every week. No other country can do that apart from China Americans are on steroids when it comes to work rate. See their Youtubers too

Friend of mine is 35 years old, married and doesn’t want kids. His household income is roughly $300k/yearly and his house is nearly paid off. They invest a good portion of their income for retirement, take multiple yearly vacations and live a nice life. I think people like this are going to regret not having kids in their future. One day when he’s old all he will have to look back on is the random stuff he bought and wasted money on. Instead of putting that money towards having kids and building a family he’s choosing consumerism. This just seems so wasteful and boring to me.

@HSchenewark Congratulations man. Keep grinding. I work for a striping company going on 20 years this season. We don't do a lot of parking lots anymore unless its part of a development job but it's always fun doing them. I've been thinking of buying my own. Good luck brother.

This is a $3,000-5,000 service hiding in plain sight. Most local businesses still don't have a mobile app. They think it costs $50K+ and takes months. The play: 1. Find businesses with good websites but no app (restaurants, gyms, salons, clinics) 2. Use this tool to generate a native app from their existing site 3. Customize the design, add push notifications and booking features 4. Charge $3,000-5,000 for the build + $200/month to maintain it 5. Deliver in days, not months They think you're a wizard. You pasted a URL. 10 clients = $2,000/month recurring before you even count the setup fees.

Introducing Website to App. Turn any website into an native mobile app. Just paste a URL. Claude Opus 4.6 will code, design, launch and translate a mobile app inspired by the original website. We’ve been using this internally a ton for iOS/Android apps.

@Alphachimp1 Picking up the phone. I don’t even leave a voicemail if they don’t answer. It’s the simplest problem to solve, and if they don’t solve it, I don’t want to hire them.

We started asking customers if they want properties seeded after clearing. They definitely do. Ive got literally dozens of them right now. So I started reaching out to newer / small landscaping companies to set up a process for them to come out after we clear. My only rule is you have to answer the phone. So far zero answers for what could easily be a consistent $250k / year in seeding work 😂
