I have seen shockingly stupid defamation claims by public figures who don't seem to have ever heard of NYT v. Sullivan. This one is not "shockingly stupid." It is still not the best, and I hate how the suit begins essentially with his resume. But it has some potential for some of it to get past the actual malice standard, depending on how the facts shake out. BUT, there is a 0% chance that he gets a fair trial in that district. He's most likely gonna pull a judge that won't let him win, and even if he pulls a judge who can keep their integrity intact, he won't ever find a jury in that town that has the slightest shred of integrity. 🚨 Statement on Judge Moody’s ruling in my defamation lawsuit against Bill Maher @billmaher 🚨 The ruling today by Judge Moody in favor of Bill Maher following his initial dismissal of Bill Maher’s motion to dismiss my defamation lawsuit is both factually and legally wrong. Maher and HBO defamed me per se by publishing that I “f*cked the president” for simply traveling on an airplane to a Presidential debate and expressing my adoration for President Trump and his MAGA Agenda. The same judge previously denied Maher and HBOs @HBO’s motion to dismiss on this basis. The judge's new premise, which is outrageous, taken from media articles, is that I said I loved the president because he’s a great president, I hugged him and traveled on President Trump’s plane with him and his staff to the Presidential debate in 2024 in a professional capacity and as a journalist. For these reasons, the judge says Maher could make an alleged “joke” that I had f*cked Trump. This was no joke and even if it was, it was legally actionable and has led to continued defamation, threats and misogynistic and unwanted sexual comments to be made towards me. It is also very disrespectful and defamatory of President Trump and @FLOTUS, both of whom I respect greatly. It is beyond the pale for any judge to say that a woman can be accused of having sex with a man and have it be brushed off as “a joke” just because she proclaimed a platonic love for their politics and leadership style. The ruling is totally dishonest and misogynistic. I am a professional woman who simply traveled as a guest to the Presidential debate, and everyone knows Bill Maher was a strong supporter of Kamala Harris and rabidly anti-Trump at the time he made these defamatory comments about me. This wasn’t a joke. He was trying to further the election of Kamala Harris and smear my reputation when I have always been highly professional in my support of President Trump. @sethmkeller123 @coachbrucepearl Those states redrew their districts at the time when census data was released. Texas redrew their maps in 2025 in large part because Trump demanded it. If you can’t see the difference, I can’t help you. Gerrymandering sucks but Texas caused this.

A lot of people in the comments are taking about Texas. They are so brainwashed lol! If Illinois, New York, and must importantly, California, were running their states like Texas, there wouldn't be a mass exodus from those states into Texas! Lower taxes, better economy, better infrastructure... Two of those states gerrymandered before Texas, Google it... California tried to do so also. Not because thousands and thousands of people moved into their state like they did to Texas, but because, wait for it, they hate Donald Trump! Article 4, Section 4 guarantees a Republic, what happened in Virginia is a democracy, there is a big difference!
